Warm welcome, staff happy to alter room to ground floor as we had a lot of luggage. Long walk from gravel car park however, with the luggage.

Rooms were very small but clean, bed against wall so one of us had to clamber out over the other. had the usual facilities.

Breakfast ok first day as we were late rising, however much better the second day.

Hotel has very nice grounds and as we were there in Spring, many flowers blooming.

Would stay again

As a local I was delighted to be spending two days here at the Abbey with an overnight stay. The main building and grounds are stunning we were so lucky with the weather that some of our activities we could complete outside, food excellent and lucky enough to of had our evening meal in the library, disappointment was my room, very small and looking tired , needs to be up dated and bathroom needs a deep clean. I was fortunate to be on the ground floor so could open up the patio door and enjoy watching the hot air balloons travel over head.
If you are looking to spend more than a night here think carefully due to the size of the rooms it would get cramped with two of you in the room.

Our review is a mixed one. The abbey and its ground are beautiful. On our arrival we had the warmest welcome from the guy behind the desk. He was very attentive, friendly and could not be anymore helpful!! We stayed in the actual bey in room4. The room had beautiful view of the garden and was clean. Very small room and decor needs majorly updating. For such a beautiful place, the room is outdated...however we were not too fussed as clean. Bar area and breakfast lovely. Our biggest downside was the fact we had no heating in our room for the two days we were there. We rang down the first night, the guy on night shift couldn't understand yes and just said to leave it till the morning. Needless to say we were frozen! As we were out in london all day the next day, upon return was hoping to get back to a warm room..so all in all spent the whole two night sleeping in jumpers to keep warm!!! All could be resolved if someone void simply switch boiler on! ...carpark is spacious though very gravely! Tyres beware! ...it was a great base to travel into and out of london and return to a quiet base. Trains very regular from missenden station which was a 2minute walk from the abbey.

Missenden have really pulled out all the stops for our wedding. The staff are so helpful and friendly - nothing is too much for them! The venue is stunning and the food superb and they cater for every diet under the sun.

Also, the value for money aspect is second to none. Natasha and her team have done everything in their power to cater for our needs and budget and their expertise in hospitality and weddings means it's been such a pain free experience.

Our guests have all been very pleased with the level of service they've received and have asked me specifically to send their gratitude to them all.

Natasha especially, is incredibly warm and welcoming and caries herself with poise and professionalism. I've known from the moment I met her that she's trustworthy and hardworking. I love visiting her, calling her, emailing her, because she sets my mind at rest and gives me complete confidence in her/their ability. She has always said - "please feel free to make this your second home!" - and it feels that way!

The day itself was run so smoothly! They set up the dining room with no problems, organised the florist, disco and food seamlessly and made everyone, especially myself and my Husband feel like royalty.

I couldn't recommend them highly enough - ecstatically happy with all aspects of our day and feel very blessed to experience this incredible team and venue. You can expect great things from them all.

My wife and I attended a function at Missenden Abbey. We found the staff enthusiastic and helpful, the function room was well laid out with a bar in one room, dance floor and another room (the library) for sitting and relaxing.
The actual rooms were compact, as it is a conference centre room size for one person is fine but for two it was a little tight. However as we were only there for one night this wasn't an issue, the room was very well equipped with a flat screen TV, free WiFi (although the signal was weak) tea / coffee making facilities and a small bathroom.
I did note a few areas that the management should look at:
1. The bedroom was incredibly warm, I'm not sure if there was any air conditioning. As we were on the ground floor we didn't fancy leaving the window open while we were out
2. There were a number of signs telling people not to leave valuables in the car - maybe the owners should install CCTV to reassure guests
3. The area outside the rooms near the ponds could do with a good clean as there was a large number of discarded cigarette ends. Also the ponds appeared to be overrun with algae, again a good clean required
4. The sink in the bathroom was incredibly small and there was low water pressure on the shower
On the plus side:
1. Friendly staff
2. A nice breakfast menu, nice buffet in the evening
3. A good selection of drinks in the bar
4. A comfy bed
5. Within easy walking distance of the town / village centre

Would I go back, probably but I wouldn't want to stay for more than a couple of nights

I've never been back for 5 years owing to change in my business requirements. However, needed somewhere to stay for two nights within relatively uncomplicated drive to meeting in Windsor but ideal for train journey to London next day. Had room G16, quiet, double bed, ensuite, free wifi. Cooked Breakfast served in morning. Only tiny niggle is they left the fountain on all night and it didn't help my sleep. Please turn it off. So had disturbed sleep on second night. Otherwise staff are brilliant, friendly, helpful and food in bar well priced and tasty. Will give them chance again.

Room Tip: Get them to switch the fountain off! Make sure you collect your token to exit the car park.

Missenden Abbey looks great on arrival but the old world façade and charm fails to live up to expectations. The reception area is tastefully presented but the disappointment comes when you discover you have to leave the grandeur of the Abbey and follow a path to a separate modern building where you find some very lacklustre rooms. The first room we were allocated had the double bed against the wall therefore restricting access to one side. We requested a different room and initially the young girl on reception stated all the smaller doubles were like our room (which we find very hard to believe), then that the hotel was full so could not move us. Luckily the young man on reception was much more helpful and found us an alternative room. We did not expect palatial rooms but were surprised by the small rooms and how tired the décor appeared especially in the en-suite where taps are de chromed and shower heads are all loose. In the evening we found the bar staff were very pleasant and the bar area, which is in the main Abbey building, had a friendly, relaxed atmosphere as did the breakfast room each morning.
Considering this hotels website states that its "offering you a first class hospitality experience" feel there is a little way to go before that quote will be true.
