This pub is Great Missenden's secret; tucked away off the beaten track but no more than a mile or two from the High Street. The lunchtime menu appears to change daily and there is usually three or four meals priced at just £5! So far I've tried the pork belly, the chicken wings and the spare rib. Anywhere else in Great Missenden and you would pay twice that for the same dish. All three meals were delicious. On the pumps were Timothy Taylor and Adnams although I did not try them; I had Guinness which was excellent. The young women who served were charming and efficient and the atmosphere was one of a genuine unspoilt traditional public house; something that is becoming increasingly rare in Great Missenden as others become wine bars or trendy tourist traps. There is also an extensive menu lunchtime and evenings including a wide range of steaks - but I've yet to try these. Overall a most pleasant experience.
