Ranked #1 of 3 Maitland B&B and Inns

First, let me say that Warren is a VERY nice host and super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was OK I guess.. toast and scrambled eggs with some fruit. The problem is the room we chose- "Sailor's Rest". All the rooms in this B&B are in the "new" part of the house which, I hate to say, is that cheap new construction. We heard every footstep.. EVERY footstep... above us (2 of the bedrooms are upstairs) and before 6am in the morning... this is not a welcomed thing. Plus, the social living area was right outside our room and by the entrance. This was one of the more expensive places we stayed ($139 a night) and, unfortunately, didn't feel like it was worth it. There isn't a whole lot to do or see in Maitland besides tidal bore rafting (a must!). Overall, I don't think I'd stay here again or feel the need to visit this area.

Room Tip: if you do decide to stay here, stay clear of the 1st floor room if you want any rest.

When the nice folks at "Lonely Planet" wrote ......
"Stay here for what is possibly the best view in Canada over the Fundy tides "
They were talking about the view from the window in Sailors Rest. Which was built in 2001.
Not the same construction techniques employed during construction of the older part of the house (1850's) but using modern construction methods and materials.
Not cheap, as anybody who's built in the last decade could inform you.
Every once and awhile the river rafting starts earlier than some people would like.
Guests need to assemble at the rafting start point to receive safety instructions and the like a hour prior to the ride starting.
The morning in question.........the guests had to assemble at 6:25.
That ment they had their breakfast here at Cresthaven at 5:45.(which they seemed to enjoy)
It's pretty quiet out here at Cresthaven.
It's not difficult to imagine 4 adults getting ready for an once in a lifetime tidal white water rafting adventure making a bit of noise at 5:45am
I had asked them to be as quiet as possible the night before.
But obviously they made noise.
And I do apologize.
As for "not much to see and do"
To each their own.

Very nice B&B. Great place to watch the tide. Host is very knowledgeable and VERY chatty. Great source of info; not for those wanting quiet solitude. Check for places to eat. There are not a lot of choices, and there isn't always some place open to eat.

Thank you Warren and Cathrine for having me at the end of your season this year.

This is a wonderful warm (literally - fire place!) and peaceful B&B but it also has a sense of family and welcoming to it as well. A great place to watch the Bay of Fundy tides (amazing view) and bald headed eagles as well as trek out to the other available areas (lighthouse at Walton for example) and just simply relax and enjoy life.
Great breakfast in the morning and wonderful friendly service! Thanks so much!

Warren, the owner of the B&B was a very warm and friendly person . That particular evening, a cool wind had come up and as the property is about 25 feet from the edge of the bay of fundy, the winds can be elevated somewhat more intensly. The parlour area was located right outside of our bedroom, which he and his wife called the Sailers Rest. Warren took the time to light a fire in the fireplace, while my wife and I read and in an instant that room was so warm, I had a hard time keeping awake. We had a very nice conversation and the following morning, a very well presented and tastey breakfast. A hard working family man.

My parents and I spent our last night in Maitland at Cresthaven by the Sea. Catherine and Warren's parents were pitch hitting for them and we had a wonderful last night in Nova Scotia. The setting is amazing and the home is welcoming and inviting. Breakfast was full and set us on our way for a day of travelling. Thanks so much for a great stay.

The location cannot be beat. The only reason for the four was that the breakfast, though delicious, was nothing special. The owner was quite knowledgeable about the wildlife in the area and was ready and willing to point us in the right direction.

My husband and I spent 1 night at this beautiful B&B located in the small village of Maitland (just 1 eatery that close early in the evening and 1 small grocery shop).
Cathrine and Warren were very welcoming, the location is really beautiful, out of the beaten path overlooking the see.
We had a very well furnished and clean room on the first floor overlooking the see. An external furnished patio as well as a confortable living room was shared with the occupants of the other 2 rooms.
Homecooked breakfast served in the morning
