“A paradise for 15 dollars or less!”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

I was in this hostel just for a weekend but I would like to come back for longer... It is a paradise, it is quite away from the beach but you dont care about that.. I recommend if you can afford it the deluxe rooms, they are still cheap for having your own bathroom and air conditioning!!!

This hostel really has to be my biggest let down in South America so far. Visually when you arrive it looks stunning. The reception is small but once you’re through the hostel grounds are striking with a beautiful big pool and well maintained plants. You can see all the mountains of Tanganga as well. There is a pool table and bar and everything looks modern and clean. That’s where it all ends though as the rooms are rubbish and such a let down. We paid extra for aircon because we knew it would be hot and stuffy there. Nowhere on their website, hostelbookers website, or their main reception does it tell you that although you pay extra for this, you cannot use it when you like. They only allow it to be on from 9pm-7am. For some people this might not be a problem but I most certainly wasn't getting up at 7am and it made it impossible to sleep. Also when we arrived we had done a long journey and wanted to just chill out but the room was too hot and humid. Because of lack of ventilation we had damp on the ceiling in the bathroom.

The hostel advertises a restaurant facility and there was a menu on the wall by the communal kitchen. In the morning when we asked for the pancakes they advertised they said no and said we could have bread. We decided to spend our money elsewhere and get a decent breakfast. There didn't seem to be any information about the ‘restaurant’ and I highlight restaurant because the only place to make food was the communal kitchen so we are still unsure as to where this restaurant service was being provided. They also have a bar and as standard with hostels and hotels that have their own bar, you can’t bring your own alcohol in. This is fine accept when we wanted to get a drink we asked art reception and the lady said no because the barman had gone out with the key to the fridge.

As it was low season they were decorating and re-painting furniture and they didn't have the common sense to tell people by putting up signs. A load of us made the mistake of sitting on the stools at the tables and ruining our clothes.

The staff that work there bring their young children with them on weekend mornings and they are left to run around the hostel. They also took up all the computers which didn't allow for paying guests to use them. Luckily this wasn't an issue for us as we had a laptop but there were a couple of other people that were getting pretty annoyed with it.

Lastly when we were checking out the staff behind the desk had the cheek to ask for a tip. It’s safe to say they didn't get one! Overall this was a mega let down for a place that has so much potential.

Room Tip: If you struggle to sleep in hot countries without aircon then book elsewhere. Also take ear plugs as...

Positives: great swimming pool! Off the beaten track so quiet. Good kitchen facilities. Good food if a bit pricey.

Negatives: air con only comes on at 9pm, so difficult to nap! No storage at all, not even a bedside table. The staff can be "overfriendly", using the pool and partying with guests. Also the location would be intimidating for a woman on her own as street quite far from main front, not paved so no traffic and quite dark.

Lovely new hostel with air con and pool. Very clean and aircon at night which is needed in the heat!!! A little pricey compared to other hostels in Taganga but that's probably due to the air-con. A few teething problems when we were there as the hostel is only open 5 months but the staff made up for it :)

After 3 weeks backpacking it was nice to arrive to cozy Taganga and found this great hostel.
Perfect in all senses:
-good location, next to the beach, scuba diving centres, restaurants, etc
- Great atmosphere, after 2 days I decided to stay longer. Swimming pool is perfect to chill out, then you have the bar, kitchen, sitting area, and the pool! I manage to meet and talk to almost all the guests in the hostel, and we used to gather in the bar during the evenings.
Best staff ever! The guys are really friendly & funny and we could spend hours chatting with them. They were also very helpful giving tips and advice, sorting the laundry, and we got a ride to the airport on our last day. Shame we could not join one of the tours they organize.
- Great food service, delicious meals (although a big pricy for the area) and excellent cocktails
- Good internet wifi connection + TV and 2 computer free to use.
- Dorms are available with air con or with fans, they all have ensuite bathrooms and there are another 2 bathrooms to share outside.

I would definitely come back ;)

Room Tip: Dorms with fan are more economic than the ones with air con and if you manage to have one fan in fro...

Been at the hostel for about 5 days. best pancakes in colombia, other food is just delicious but a bit pricey
the guys are very much fun, hostel is beautiful, swimming pool is perfect, internet connection so and so on the wifi but there are 2 computers,
tv in english and with sport channel to watch the football, and only 5 minutes walking up the hill from the city centre.
rates are around 20 000 for the dorm with no aircon (although it is super hot) or 25 with aircon. i believe they have private rooms too.

Ps laundry service is the quickest ever
