Our family just had a week at the family run Ostria. It's well away from the beaches and nightlife of the Western Naxos beaches, and the journey down the mountain to the hotel is an experience in itself. The beaches on this side of the island are not as good as those on the West however. You will want a car to get there, or get the bus to Apeiranthos and the helpful hotel will arrange a pick-up. We hired a car for our last few days, explored a little bit of the island, and then left it at the port before we took our ferry back to Piraeus. Ostria is a very peaceful place with a lovely pool area, and furnishings and sunbeds of high quality. As a family we had two rooms: the upper one newer, airy and a nice shower. The downstairs room in which the kids stayed had a small shower and a slightly cramped bathroom. The rooms were spotless, and furnished nicely, regular changes of towels and sheets, and with good AC which was needed. We ate in the hotel. The food was very good, although the breakfast could arrive in a slightly haphazard fashion and was limited. The coffee shop just up the road is a nice alternative when you want a change. In the evenings or at lunch the salads were lovely and fresh, the mille feuille with vegetables delicious. To ring the changes we walked to the village of Moutsounas (about 10 minutes) and tried the two restaurants and coffee shop there. If you want peace and quiet this is the place. If you have elder kids you may want somewhere where there are more activities.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with one of the new showers.

This is a beautiful place to relax, run by a lovely family who really go out of their way to make at me you feel at home! Rooms are fine, very clean and ours had a perfect view of the ocean. If you want to explore the island it's a good idea to hire a car beforehand as the hotel is quite out of the way. However we were happy to relax by the pool and swim at the nearby beach. The food is great too, I would definitely try the Ostrian salad. We also walked to the nearby fishing harbour for some excellent seafood. A great stay!

We discovered Mounsona and Ostria Inn just by chance when touring around the island,
We do not like to spend the whole day in the beach and we rented a car to tour around the island.
Though guides do not place much attention in this spot, it is definitely the most oustanding place as an alternative to City beaches and it worth spending some nights.
Arrive into Moustonas taking the East direction from Kora, not the North way to Apollon.
You will enjoy beautiful hillside scenarios around small towns and agricultural farmlands.
Mountsonas is a tiny port with a lot of character and beautiful bays and beaches around,
Plan a day in Panormos beach.
Ostria Inn have all you need to spend some wonderful days.
The hotel stands across a tiny beach, sorrounded by callas and bays.
It has a generous pool and restaurant at the entrance of the hotel, in front of a tiny route that connects with town and rural areas.
The rooms are clean, comfortable. Though not sophisticated, they have everything you need.
Bathrooms somewhat small. A kitchinette in every rooms allow you to have breakfast or a late coffee time in your room.
The Inn has only 14 rooms and as of July they are mostly fully reserved by Greeks from Athens that have discovered long ago this beautiful place. So I would strongly recommend you place a reservation beforehand as the chances to find an available room during this period will be limited and there are very few options around the area.
If you decide to come, be sure your car has enough gas as the village has no pump station and the only available is at 20 kms uphill.
The hotel has wi fi all though the place and signal is good.
Food in the restaurant is good, and service neat and professional. I would also recommend to enjoy dinner in one of the small restaurants in the beach located in the fisherman town.
In sum, a magic place. A must if visiting Naxos.

Room Tip: Rooms with sea view and close to parking. There are only 14 rooms, thus not many options.

A great place to stay in a great peaceful part of Naxos, not that there's anything wrong with the busier beaches on the western side but the Ostria Inn and Moutsouna village are all about chilling and relaxing.
The pool and adjacent bar were lovely and never seemed too busy and the group of studio rooms are well planned with good balconies and seating areas, we had elderly relations with us and were all able to sit out for breakfast.
Would really recommend staying here.
However, the one drawback, which is why the score is very good and not excellent, was the food service, we were a party of 6 and there was an inability for the kitchen to deliver our lunch to us all at anything like the same time, by the time the sixth dish was brought out, the first had finished, this happenned twice. This put us off eating there in the evening, but meant that we stumbled across a great restaurant in Moutsouna harbour - The Net (which I've reviewed seperately), about 20 minutes walk away.

Our family of 5 have just came back from our vacation in Greece. We stayed at Ostria Inn for one week and will look back at the place with lots of lovely memories for a long time. The people working at this hotel is so warm, welcoming and service minded that we were instantly feeling honestly welcome and that felling stayed for the whole week. We were not only sorry for leaving the place but also the lovely people working there.
Our small children was also met with lots of attention and care, even with all the mess, spilling and noise they from time to time created... As an example of the great service, our daughter had her 3rd birthday when we stayed there and the youngest sister working at the taverna made her a cake with 3 lights on; a lovely surprise for the birthday girl :-)
The room we stayed at was delicate, with lots of space, two big terraces, a lovely view overlooking the garden, pool and sea, it was very clean with everything we needed and good beds for having quality sleep.
Aything we were eating at the meny was so tastful and exceeded our expectations every time we had a meal. We picked the fish ourselves from the kitchen and had lovely salads and vegetables on the side. Think we tried most of the things on the meny and we had only great experiences.
Moutsouna is a place to relax. There are no stress, shops, trafic or noise. There is a nice beach just on the other side of the road from the taverna and a stone beach just some footsteps further down the street. The pool area and the taverna gives the opportunity to just stay at Ostria Inn for a week without any problems, but if you want to see something else you can have a short walk for about 10 minutes to a charmy small "port" with a couple of other tavernas. Moutsouna has also got a small mini market if there is something you need.
Due to no light and noise pollution in the area, you can enjoy the dark nights looking at the stars or just listening to the waves without any other disturbances. It is really easy to fall in love with this place and I hope I will be able to go back again soon!

We decided to stay overnight at the Ostria to escape from the comparative bustle of Naxos Chora. We were welcomed on arrival with home made sweet and sour cherries which were delicious.
The room was spotless, overlooking the gardens, pool and sea. The beach is less than 5 metres from the front of the hotel.
That evening I had Dorada for dinner and it was cooked to perfection and delicious.
We also sampled the family made Raki which was the smoothest I had tasted in Greece.
All in all a wonderful place to stay and Irini is a fantastic hostess who will ensure you leave very happy.
Well recommended.

we visited a few of the Greek islands over the course of one week. while on Naxos, we ventured to Moutsouna and stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant/inn for lunch. the setting is blissfully serene. the view is fantastic, and the food was absolutely delicious. (i recommend the feta with honey and sesame, as well as the greek yogurt.) and Irini was a wonderful host.

though it takes a little bit of time to drive there (especially on ATV's), it was definitely worth it. i will be visiting the Ostria Inn again on my next visit to Naxos!
