“A perfect fit!”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

After traveling to Moutsouna and searching for a relaxed yet modern hotel, we happened upon the beautiful Ostria Inn. We were warmly greeted by Eirini (who speaks perfect English) and her family, given our choice of rooms and offered a much needed cocktail. Our room was elegantly appointed, had a small kitchen, delightful terrace with an ocean view and offered every service we needed. We took this vacation to take a break from the harried routines of internet and telephone and hence did not mind or even notice that they were lacking, (please see review from 'Mary L'). The borderless pool was a welcome break from the lovely Aegean, and as a swimmer, I alternated my time between it, the lovely beach across the street and other more remote beaches nearby, some within walking distance and others not. The food was superb - home cooked and all ingredients fresh and wonderful - in fact, theirs was the only truly satisfying green salad I ate in all of Greece! If you are interested in a vacation 'far from the maddening crowd', with first rate accommodations that include beautiful decor and gardens, delicious home cooked food specializing in regional cooking, warm and friendly proprietors and staff, then the Ostria Inn is for you. If you want a more 'regular' vacation experience, I advise avoiding this part of the island entirely - it is not for everyone. By the way, the relationship of price to service is excellent.

If you're looking for a nice hotel with great sea right in the front of it there you are. You've got it. However, my experience was quite disappointing by the non-professionalism of Ostria Inn. First of all, we booked a room that we had seen pictures of and we liked but were given another one (because, as the owner said, we were "the lucky couple who won an upgrade to a suite") which of course, althoug bigger, was boiling under the sun all day long contrarily to the one we had booked. I know a lot of people in the hotel business and how the "upgrade" lie is used when the hotel owner has given the room you've booked to someone else. Please, people, give us some credit here. Also, you wonder why such an expensive hotel has no window screens to keep mosquitos and other insects away; we had to sleep with the windows closed and the air-conditioning on instead of enjoying sleep at a natural temperature. The most dissappointing, however, was the fact the hotel offered no internet connection as stated by its website. This was a huge inconvenience for me because I was under a lot of pressure to finish an assignment while I was there. I immediately explained this to the staff and was reassured that the problem would be solved the next day; wasn't solved in any of the 3 days we stayed there. Leaving aside the stress and trouble I had to go through with my job and the almost indifferent -bordering rude- attitude of the hotel staff everytime I asked them if they had fixed the problem, I am ending my review with a question: how can any self-respecting tourist unit with the minimum professionalism not offer a discount or at least a breakfast after having been so unreliable to a customer who paid a good deal of money (breakfast not included) on the most remote area of Naxos in an off-season period?

We stayed at Ostria Inn for 4 nights in early September 2012 and absolutely loved it. Eirini and her family and their staff made us feel completely at home and cooked us some of the most amazing food we have ever eaten; fresh fish, seafood spaghetti, Greek salads, and best of all Eirini's mum's delicious desserts and home-made cherry liqueur served over ice - heaven! Our room was very clean and cosy, with a private balcony overlooking the lovely gardens, swimming pool and the sea, and completely sheltered from the hot sun and the Naxos winds (which blew quite considerably during our stay). There are several small, sheltered beaches right in front of the hotel where the water is warm, clear and calm and in September you will likely have the beach to yourself. Moutsouna village is 5-10mins walk away or 2mins drive. It is very small but has some lovely little restaurants right on the waters edge where you can watch the world go by. Moutsouna is at the bottom of a long, winding road down the mountain from the beautiful village of Apeiranthos. In July and August the buses from Naxos Town apparently go all the way to Moutsouna, but when we were there in September we had to get off the bus at Apeiranthos and then take a taxi down to Moutsouna, which Eirini organised for us on several occasions. We were very happy spending our four days relaxing around Moutsouna and Apeiranthos and admiring the stunning scenery, but if you want to get out and about to explore Naxos you will need a car. We had a wonderful stay at Ostria Inn, which was made so special by the warm hospitality of Eirini and her family and their little dog Leo. Best of all there were very few other tourists on this side of the island, so we really did feel like we were experiencing the real Naxos. We can't wait to go back some day!

We enjoyed a marvelous holiday in this hotel in July 2011 and it is the perfect place for a peaceful Greek island holiday. It stands alone beside a lovely calm beach and bay on the quiet side of the island. There is a nearby village with some tavernas but we did not try any of them in 10 days because the food at Ostria is simply fantastic. We soon found some favourites and each day they offered different special dishes, from fresh local produce. The most wonderful things was that they made us feel part of the family, more like guests in their own home. They were warm and fun and the service was excellent, nothing was ever a trouble. The pool is good for swimming and sittng beside while enjoying sun or shade. The beach was gently sloping and sheltered and each day we had a refreshing morning swim - almost always alone. It was never busy; at most a handful of other people. Rooms were clean and well equiped, the views were lovely, from the terrace in the room and from the reastaurant. Nothing could be more relaxing than sitting and enjoying dinner and a few quiet drinks while watching the sun set on the bay and the moon rise. Not a place if you want lots of activities but fabulous for a quiet and enjoyable break from the rest of the world. We will return - often.

It was the second time that I stayed at Ostria!
A lovely hotel with really beautiful view to the sea!The sunrise is such a nice picture! All the beaches, especially Psili Ammos and Panormos are so picturesque with crystal waters. When I was in Moutsouna,I was feeling that I have found paradise!

This time we chose alisaxni suite. We had hydromassade and a spacious terrace with panoramic view to small cyclades!

GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY!

The most important thing is that I feel like being at home....

Many thanks to Eirini and we are looking forward to meeting you in Paris as soon as possible!

Ostria really surprised us!We were meant to stay for 5 nights, but ended up staying 25..All staff was so warm and welcoming.Eirini treated us like family. They really made us feel part of a greek family, drinking traditional raki every night!

Ostria is an excellent establishment right on the beach with a very beautiful garden. Our room was spacious with magnificent view to the sea and tastefully decorated! The swimming pool was lovely with view to the sea as well.

Their attention to detail really surprised us.Eirini was really attentive to our questions and really helped us to visit the best places in Naxos.

Finally,do not forget to try fresh fish in the oven with vegetables. It was a new recipe and it was so delicious!

It is sure that we will go back to Ostria next summer. We have already missed it!

Thanks to all family!!!!
