Review of Lad Khan Temple

Lad Khan Temple
Reviewed January 5, 2014

Take a guide along. You won't understand anything without a good story teller! Very well maintained by ASI. No good restaurants near by. Plan well in advance. Finish Aihole & pattadukal and reach Badami for Lunch. Both needs 6hrs including travel.

Take more time to see the temple. you will admire how in good olden days, when there was no electricity, light, machines, only primitive tools our ancestor could build such wonderful structures

Two Storeyed Ladkhan temple is situated on the right side of the Durg Temple Complex at Aihole. Here one can find the emblem of Chalukyan Dynasty- Boar, mirror, Chakra, sankha. On the Pillar of the temple we can find the design of famous Ilkal Sari.

We had been to Aihole which has ancient temples The name 'Ladkhan temple aroused oour curiosity and we spent more time seeing the same. we were told the temple is named after a Muslim prince.
The 12 carved pillars and latticed windows in Northern style were a treat to watch. One interesting feature of this temple is that it starts with a rectangular structure and ends with a square structure
Built in 5th century by Chalukya kings originally as a Vishnu temple, it now has a Siva and nandi statues.
This place requires three hours as museum, and some more temples are to be seen
