“Nice with large room for improvement and waaaay too pricey”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2012

First of all I would like to congratulate the photographer who took the pictures posted on the hotel's website because they are amazing, something the hotel is not.
I stayed there for 2 nights with my husband and 2 children aged 9 and 11. To make my review simple, I'll tell you about each feature on a separate line.

Location: The nature surrounding the hotel is breathtaking.
Room: Nothing like the picture you see on the web site. We had no flowers, no TV, no air conditionning (although we didn't mind that one much since we had 2 fans in the room), no alarm clock, no mini fridge, no microwave, poor lighting and cheap bathroom. We definitely expected more when we paid over 300$ a night for a regular room with breakfast. It did not feel like we were in a luxurious hotel at all.
Food: The food was good but not excellent. We had 6 meals in total.
Staff: Although the staff is friendly, they are not well trained, and don't look or act professional.
Terrasse: The terrasse is the best part of the hotel when it is not raining.
SPA: Very good.
Indoor Pool: Has a maximum capicity of 10 (yes ten) people in a hotel of hundreds.
Entertainment: You better bring your own entertainment with you in case it rains. There is a pool table, a foosball table and a video game but you have to pay to use them. Remember that there is no TV in the room (but there is one in the entertainment area for all to use) and the hotel does not have board games that you can borrow.
Beach: The beach is very clean and has very comfortable lounging chairs as well as an unsuppervised hut with clean folded towels, life jackets and water. You can use the kayaks, canoes and pedalos at no extra cost. You have to go down the mountain to get to the beach using a wooden path that inlcudes 150 steps, definitely not recommended for the elderly since the way back up would very strenuous. I would recommend that they add a snack bar at the beach.
Gym: There is no gym.

I would go back to this hotel only if I had to pay a reasonable price which is not the case right now. We definitely felt that we didn't get our money's worth.

We can read good positive points on your stay at Sacacomie. On the other hand, we are very sorry that your stay was not to your expectations. Sacacomie has more than an hundred employees and most are very professional and qualified. We are sorry that you haven’t met them. Concerning the way to the beach, we offer transport up and down for people with mobility issues. Please be sure that all your comments will be treated to improve our customer services. Prices are dictated by the market and always at a higher price during the peak season. Our woodlog building is very attractive but also need constant maintenance. Therefore, we are planning major renovations next month that should solve few details that you are mentioning about. Sacacomie is a breathtaking site as you mentioned, but also weather dependant of Mother Nature. We hope to see you back sometime.

This place have everything for the whole family. Nut, a few days without the kids and why not without dad makes this trip a very nice an quiet one. The Spa is just breathtaking, the activities that you can make are out of this world and the food makes you think you are in the best restaurant ever. For a mom who needs to sleep and enjoy peace and quiet, this is it. For a couple of moms who want to just have fun and relax of for a couple who wantto find quiet loving time, Sacacomi is probably the best choice.

Room Tip: Therooms that are facing the mountain are the best.

I highly recommend the hotel! I really loved everything! As soon as we arrived, we went on a bear and beaver watching tour. It was amazing! We saw many beavers, bears and racumns. Just perfect. The ambiance is amazing the staff very helpful. The breakfast is also very very good.
They have a wonderful beach where you can just lay down in chairs and watch the forest or take a boat. The only thing missing for me, specially now in August was the air conditioning, but they helped it with a fan which worked with the windows opened at night.
Dinner is fantastic and the food really good.
Just visit and you will not regret.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience at our hotel. If you have never been to our hotel during winter, a whole range of exciting winter activities awaits you, like dog sledging on a frozen lake, cross country skiing, ice fishing and more, it’s definitely worth a visit. Hope to receive your family again during our next season. We truly appreciate your feedback!

I've traveled mainly for work in the past so I have standards in terms of features and price and overall quality. First thing, not worth the price. The location is beautiful but the features and quality of the rooms leaves a lot to be desired.

In intense heat and humidity, we realize there is no A/C in the room. The rooms are quaint but much too small for the price and the view wasn't that good either. Bad reception for the Wi-Fi (none in our room) so you are completely cut-off from the world (might be a good thing for some but not for me).

First of all thank you for your comments. We hope that during your stay you enjoyed our activities free of charge that we offer to our guests, such as hiking trails for over 65KM, access to the private and attendant service, indoor pool not mentioning all the equipments for water craft (canoe, kayak and pedal boat). Indeed we have a great summer season with fine temperature which does not facilitate sleep, especially during a couple of days with temperatures higher than usual. For Hotel Sacacomie protecting the natural environment is one of the priorities which begin with minimisation of energy consumption. As we don’t use A/C in our hotel rooms, fans in each room are used to cool the ambient air. As for the Wi-Fi, many clients as you say in your message, loves the idea of being cut-off from the world but we realized that it is important for clients like you, so we have wireless connection since a few months. Despite of hotel’s location in the woods, we have Wi-Fi network in the entire premises but unfortunately the network does not go up to some specific zones where certain rooms are located. It’s unfortunate that you did not mention it at the front desk as we offer maintenance service from 8 AM to 11h30 PM. Thank you very much for the feedback.

We only stayed here for one night, wich is not long enough to enjoy everything.
Rooms are good, beds are excellent!
The dinner was the best we had for the last 3 weeks.
Not very often you meet such nice servants and very good cooks in Canada! but here it all comes together. Wish we could stay some longer, but Montreal is waiting fot us.
We will tellall our friends oubout this beautiful spot!

Room Tip: lakeview takes your breayh away!

Been there for a weekend, got a very good price (200$/pers./night, txs/service included: The Best Of Nature package) for a lake side room with balcony and whirlpool bath, 4-course evening diner, buffet breakfast and one day access to the GEOS Les Bains facilities.
The room was very clean, lot of space, quiet and all we needed.
Exceptional service everywhere. Restaurant/bistro offers good choices of meals. Breakfast, lunch and dinner: it was awesome. Beautiful hotel and location for landscape, lot of things to do in nature at any time of the year. Bar, TV, poolroom with babyfoot table and video games in the hotel.
Geos Spa is very nice and relaxing with view on the lake. Good facilities and location.
The Sacacomie Lake is good for activities in summer and swimming; very clean and clear water.
I would recommend it to anyone, it's a must-see resort!
