Stayed at Dukmanjae Hanok for 3D/2N. Took the bus from Seoul to Jeonju ( 전주시 ).
How to get to Jeonju
Take Jeonju bus from Terminal Express Bus Station, line 3, going towards Honam Line. Its at Central City. If you are not sure, just as the information desk. Rather helpful.
We did not reserve any tickets ( depending on season i think ) but it was the day before Labor Day so it was okay. Most guesthouse was booked after speaking to some fellow travller.
Arrived after 3 hours ride. The bus was rather comfy as we paid a bit more not because we want to but we just want to catch the earliest bus. The stop over was nice and clean and food was available. The funny thing was they had a Red Indian entourage ( think they are from South America ) and were doing the songs and dance routine so it felt we were in a mixture of 2 world.
Arrive at Jeonju bus terminal and we took a cab to the village. We had the address in Korean, so not to get lost.
Check in was fast and the Lady owner speak rather good English. She showed us how place, and how to use the temperature to regulate the floor to our personal liking. Though it was already May, the weather was rather cool.
Room was nice and big ( see pix ) and a attached bathroom with shower ( small towels, shampoo, toothpaste, and hair dryer was provided ). She live next door so if you have anything, just go over and call her. Its in a quiet area so no worries of safety as the door is just latch with a spoon...
How to get to the Guesthouse
Since we took a taxi it was a breeze but just note that the taxi will not drive you in, just tell them to drop you off at 동부신협 ( Credit Union, you will see it on your right as its a one way street ). Then just walk a bit you will see a alley with signage and just turn right. Walking along the path you will see a door but that's not it, look to your right again and you will see stone ground which will lead you to the guesthouse.. If you have trouble, do contract the Lady Owner.
The people in Jeonju do not speak much English but that perfectly fine with us. We enjoyed the adventure.
What would I do differently.
Since it was early we decided to go to the city center, GAEKSA. Its like Myeondong but smaller. Since there was also the film festival going on, it was more crowded and happening. We took a long walk and went around till dark.
We thought we will then go back to the village to hang out but it turns out it was a decision best left alone as when we got back around 7:30pm, there was nothing much left. Went back to the guesthouse and had a good night rest. For those with backache, the warm floor actually helps you to sleep better. It certainly help my travel buddy.
There was no bread but we were prepared as we brought our own cookies around the corner and had a great breakfast outside, in the garden. Oh ! What lovely day it was.
Great guesthouse to us. Convenient and the walk the next day around the hanok was great. We found a great restaurant and the meat so ubber-licious..... worth the 1.3 hour wait. The corn that they gave was great too.. It was so sweet unlike those we had elsewhere. ( if you want the name or pix.. just pm me )
