“Ancient Gate”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

it's one of Jeonju's historical attractions located within just a walking distance from the Hanok Village.Looks imposing but resembles the Namdaemun gate in Seoul as far as I am concerned.

“Not what you expect”
Reviewed April 29, 2012

I am sort of surprised the "gate" (that's all it is) got such great reviews. It is in an odd spot- right in the middle of a round-about, so watch out for cars and motorbikes while you are trying to pose for a photo. It's worth a look and a photo, but there's really not much to it. I think the city did this historic landmark a serious disservice by building a round-about around the whole thing. It's just odd.

“Only surviving gate in Jeonju”
Reviewed March 11, 2012

Previously there were four main gates. Only one of them is still standing - the south gate. It is very easy to visit it after visiting the hanok village as it is only a short walk around. Currently there is a market surrounding the gate and it is a good introduction to a Korean market.

“Traditional Shopping”
Reviewed January 27, 2012

As a long time expat in Korea, I try to support locals and this traditional market is an excellent way to experience traditional culture and direct your money away from corporations to locals. I come here to but furniture, gifts, and just to hang out. Korean traditional clothes (hanbok) can be had here reasonably and the girls' dresses will totally delight your little princesses at home!

The original gate (for which the Market is named) makes for nice photos and the city puts good effort into regular renovations .

“PungnamMun or South Gate”
Reviewed January 15, 2012

Not much to look at in itself as it is stuck in the middle of a roundabout, but there are interesting shops in the surrounding area.
