We simply can't wait to return to this wonderful property. Situated in a rural area, the facilities here are second to none.

From the welcome we received on arrival, each and every day the friendly staff greeted us with smiles and the utmost kindness. Nikos and his brother Vasillus run the site and nothing is too much bother for them, Angela at the poolside bar is always happy to serve and is a mine of information on Greek cooking. Our room was cleaned every day by Jonida who supplied clean linen every 2/3 days, the service we received from her was excellent.

Contrary to what a previous review says the linen and towels are of top quality and spotlessly clean (any interested visitors should make a point of totally disregarding that particular review as we can tell you first hand and after numerous visits the review is a load of codswallop, obviously written by someone with malicious intent, please ignore it it isn't true).

The gardens are well laid out and tended constantly by Niko - don't try to walk with him, the man is lightening fast! As for the pool, well we are both keen swimmers and this has to be the best maintained and cleanest pool we have ever had the pleasure of swimming in. The exercise certainly helped a little to counter the good eating.

There are numerous restaurants in the area all within 4-6 minutes drive, in our opinion the best are Fois Restaurant run by Nicky and Spero Fois - try their briam as you'll be back for more. The other restaurant is at Avithos Beach, Enetiko run by Dmitrius.

The room we had is a maisonette which was very spacious with a large balcony overlooking the gardens, vineyards and olive groves. The sunsets are sensational. Compared with other self-catering facilities we have experienced in the past the cooking facilities are very good we even managed a couple of good meals including stifado and briam.

We'll conclude by stressing how friendly everyone at Avithos is, it was a genuine pleasure to visit and meet these lovely people. We are now looking forward to June when we know we will have another unforgettable holiday.

This place is simply the best is Cephalonia, you will not be disappointed.

We stayed here at the end of a week at Assos before and early morning flight off the island. we were pleasantly surprised by this resort. It was great value with good sized rooms and a nice pool.

Location for the airport is excellent- only a 2min drive away.

First of all : every good review is true about the Avithos resort.
It was our 11 th visit in Greece and 2 nd in Kephalonia, Svoronata. We booked the room in the site of the resort. It was a very affordable and extraordinary offer for the early birds. This place is ideal for relaxing because is far from the busy cities however it has good relatively central location to explore the island. Car is necessary but there are many car rental possibilities.(We gone by our own car.)The resortand it's environment is beautiful just like on the photos but the trees have been grown and there are more comfortable sunbeds by the pool.Receptionists are very helpful in booking ferry tickets, extending our stay etc.The room was a 2 bed studio with excellent cooking utensils : microwave oven with grill, fridge and enough cutlery and plates. The beds are very comfortable and wide. The room service was excellent. We had our own breakfast because we prefer the very fine greek food. There were many mosquitos for this it would be better to have mosquito net in the windows and the terrace door. We had mosquito repellent in the room and in the terrace too. We used AC too nightly against them ( it was included in the price). The pool is really clean and big enough to swim. The lady working in the pool bar is helpful too to make us grilled feta cheese which was very tasty and could be always on the menu. The furniture, colours and the flooring is stylish everywere patricularly in the lobby and reception. All in all we had a very relaxing days in the Avithos resort and will advise it for our friends. Thank you.

This is the second time we have been to the Avithos Resort. The first time we booked through Thomson but this time we booked direct with the hotel and organised our own Easyjet flights. Booking direct with the hotel we were able to reserve a bigger Apartment Suite, one double bedroom and two sofa beds in the lounge with a really big double balcony which suited us well travelling with the two teenage girls. We also booked car hire through the hotel and got a really good rate.

The hotel was as lovely as before, the pool area was clean and never seemed to get very busy even though it was the middle of August. The pool is very big and always kept clean. The Reception staff were always friendly and helpful on the rare occasion that we needed to have any dealings with them. Our room was kept immaculately clean and the air conditioning was really effective - an essential in mid August!

There are several restaurants within walking distance, our favourite is Esperides, the closest. The supermarket is about 10 minutes walk away and has everything you need. We did not visit the local beach as when we came 4 years ago it was a bit disappointing as there was a lot of seaweed around. We used to visit the beach - Makris Gialos at Lassi which is about 10 minutes drive away - this has to be on my list of the most beautiful beaches I have been to. Golden sand and clear blue water.

The weather was beautiful - not a cloud in the sky.

If I had to make any criticism, and it is a very small one it would be that it would have been nice if there could have been more variety in the breakfast buffet. There was a good selection but after a few days of the same items being on offer it was rather repetitive.

From the minute we stepped foot out of the airport we were made very welcome! Nikos had made arrangments (on our request prior to our arrival) for us to be picked up from the airport for the short 10 minute journey to the hotel.

We were shown to the room and given the usual instructions on how to work the air con, safe, TV etc. The room was very clean and was of a standard you would expect from a Greek Island resort. In fact I wish some hotels in the UK would take as much care and attention on cleanliness and presentation!

The grounds of the complex are very well kept and are very pretty. The seating area outside our apartment was idyllic and a nice place to relax. Some of the staff were almost like shadows, but when you looked closer there was always someone sweeping the last leaf off the floor or tending to the pool area and accommodation.

There is a very relaxed atmosphere at the pool - with many seating areas and poolside beds. The pool was perfect and is extemely well maintained.

Breakfast was served from 8.30am til 11.00am, great for us as there was no pressure to get up at the crack of dawn. A good mixture of breakfast items that should satisfy all. All buffet style so you could take your pick at anything that took your fancy.

Angela tended the pool bar in the day and was always very welcoming and efficient. She served a limited number of lunch time items which were made to order and perfectly prepared. I would suggest she may hold the world record for the largest number of Greek salads constructed in one day! A very popular item and each one lovingly prepared i might add!

All of the team in the resort were very professional with high standards and nothing was too much trouble.

Katerina tended the pool bar in the evening and again was very welcoming and efficient. The pool area looked very pretty in the night with the pool itself being lit and large candle lanterns placed around the general area.

We didn't hire a car as we were only there for a week and just wanted to a holiday of total relaxation. However if you want to do the island justice then a car is recommended. We took a few journeys in a taxi mainly to Argostoli.

Locally there are a few beaches within a 10/15 minute walk away. Avithos beach and Ammes beach. For us Avithos beach was the best with 2 taverna overlooking the bay and a beachside bar that was literally 2 strides away from the shoreline, brilliant!

If you are walking back from Avithos beach of an evening then I would take a small torch with you. There are a few roadside lamps along the way, but some bits are very dark and so a torch lights the way and gives advance notice to any oncoming traffic.

We have been to a number of Greek islands over the past 10 years and the combination of the staff, hotel, resort and island have placed this particular holiday in our top 3 destinations. We absolutely loved this holiday and the team at the Avithos resort made a large contribution to making it one of the bestever - Thanks Guys - they deserve the praise given by my reviewers!

We've all done it. Seen somewhere on Trip Advisor get great reviews, booked it and then crossed everything that it'll actually be as good as you'd hoped.
Well, just don't worry. Avithos Resort is just super. We stayed for a week in a superior studio.

GOOD THINGS
1. Resort itself
Best pool I've been in- spotless and gorgeous
Spotlessly clean everywhere
Lots of different types of sunbeds so everyone's happy
Stunning maintained gardens- gave privacy and wonderful flowers, birds and butterflies
Great breakfast buffet
Tasty pool bar snacks- not a huge range but it's not a restaurant- recommend the Greek salad
Very peaceful with views to the mountain
Lovely, fun and friendly staff where nothing is too much trouble. Everything you've read about the service is bang-on.

2.Villa/apartment
Great bed- massive and comfy. Best sleeps I've had in an age
Fab quality linen and towels
Reception gives you fresh beach/pool towels too so you don't need to bother taking
Cleaned and tidied every day- fresh towels when you want
Spacious
Great shower
Great Air conditioning
Little kitchenette with hob/microwave/fridge
More cups plates glasses cutlery etc than you'd ever need
Sweet little patio area - some had balconies or terraces but we had a garden flat

3. Island itself
Resort is just 10 mins walk to local beaches- Avithos was our fave- sandy, shallow and great beach bar. 2 Lovely tavernas there too.
We hired a car for 3 days- cabs are expensive on the island and you really need one if you're going to get the most out of the island. It's quite big and takes about 2 hours to do the whole length. The roads are typically Greek- signs point one way and often mean another but if you don't mind being a bit lost sometimes then it's fun- you're not at work so it's not that bad!
We rented a little Panda for €75 for 3 days through the resort.
The island is mountainous so many roads are VERY windy and not for the faint hearted- take it slow and try not to look down too much and you'll be fine!
The more brave you are, the more amazing places you'll discover- incredible vistas that I'll never forget. Sure, goats and boulders occassionally appear in the road but hey, so what? Beats the M25.
Do drive up to St Georges Castle and eat at Palatinos- AMAZING view and superb food.
Antisamos beach is also a MUST- drive over the mountains to Sami and it's signed from there- great for snorkling as millions of fish and surrounded by trees
Makris Gialos beach near Lassi was great too- luxury beach beds, great bar, clear sea
Myrtos beach- WELL worth a visit but huge currents so quite dangerous if you're not a strong swimmer- the bluest water you'll see in your life. Just go to say you've been.
Drive to the little harbour village of Asos. It's just wonderful. Snorkel in the harbour, eat lovely food and dream of what it'd be like to live there.

BAD THINGS
