Stayed here last week. The room was clean with fridge and mini bar. Bathroom was sufficient but basic facilities. 5 star rated but no hair dryer. On the second day I asked reception could they lend me one and I was asked, had I checked the drawers. I had checked the drawers so the young lady said she would try to find one. I never heard anymore. The staff in general are lovely, really friendly and I would stay again. The location is fantastic

Had a wonderful stay for 2 nights 5th and 6th June 2013.

We arrived early after travelling and had a wonderful welcome by the owner who said as the Main Suite wasnt being used he would upgrade us free of charge....great start... and beatiful well presented room...couldnt fault it.

The only other facilites we used were for breakfast......great choice with a nothing is too much attitiude......if being fussy we waited 20mins to get the cooked nreakbast but atleast we knew it was fresh and definately worth the wait.

Staff wer all very friendly and informative of the area suggesting wlaks, bike rides and local pubs to eat.

Even help contacting me when a bike pedal fell off my girlfirneds bike 6 miles away!!

Wouldnt hesitae recommending this propoerty to anyone...you will not be dissapointed.

You need a car to move around the Gower from it but very central.

We will be back

Room Tip: We got upgraded to the apartment and was stunningly good.

Stayed here as part of a wedding party. Some good points, some not so good...
Good:
1. Nice looking venue.
2. Rooms are well looked after and clean.
3. A lot of parking, felt safe and secure.

Not so good:
1. disorganised staff - looked like it was the first wedding they had done. No one seemed to know which way to turn and what was happening next. A lot of panicked faces through out the day, no one seemed to be in charge.
2. Embarrassingly cold in venue, I felt very sorry for so many of the guests who were freezing dispite the heating being on full blast in the marquee. If you open your venue all year around, you should be certain it will be warm enough.
3. We were meant to get minibuses home, but this wasn't possible so the venue staff told the bride who had to come and tell the guests. Surely it would have been more appropriate for the venue staff to deal with this directly with the guests.
4. Rooms were overpriced (we didn't pay for them, the B&G did but I know how much they cost) as I said above, the rooms were nice, we had a downstairs room with its own bathroom, but they are nothing special.
5. Not enough waiting staff.
6. Pre wedding they were extremely bad at answering telephone calls and emails (I had some questions about our stay)

Overall - it's a nice place, but the staff are chaotic and it all feels a bit haphazard... I would not trust the venue with an event unless things changed dramatically.

Dear HatesTheCold22,

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to write your review. Feedback is very important to us as it not only motivates us, it allows us to improve and ensure every visitor to Oldwalls has a wonderful experience with Oldwalls.

I have messaged you directly for further information on some of the topics of your review as we have not had any complaints regarding the temperature of the marquee or the service we have delivered at any of our weddings this year. Please will you respond as it so important for us to make sure these area's are absolutely perfect.

With regard to the communication you experienced, we have undergone a major renovation this year. We have converted from cottages to 17 luxury rooms/suite's and in recent weeks we have created a new Reception area - separate to our venue building. Whilst we have tried to minimise the impact on our guests and visitor's, it has led to Reception hours reducing to 9 - 5 to allow for evening mainenance and re-locating our telephone system. However, I am pleased to confirm we will be reverting back to 9 - 8 opening hours as of Monday 9th June and we have now put an on-line booking system on our website to enable visitor's to book rooms with more speed and efficiency. However, I am very sorry if any of these alterations have affected your ability to contact us.

In reference to the mini bus, our staff assist all our guests/visitor's to arrange transportation to and from our venue at all times of day. We have a list of local shuttle's and taxi's whom we phone on behalf of our guests - our host's may arrange their own private transport arrangements aswell.

The pricing of our rooms is in line with other Gower hotels and Bed & Breakfast establishments. Gower is recognised as an area of outstanding beauty and Oldwalls has been awarded a 5* by the Welsh Tourisd Board. Our rooms are lovely, we have recently renovated them. To maintain exclusivity for our Bride's & Grooms we offer a 25% discount on our standard weekend rates on all our rooms for the evening of their wedding. A beautiful Welsh Breakfast Buffet is put together the next day with Prosecco toast, and we re-create the marquee by dressing the tables with the same centre pieces and playing music from the night before. It's very magical and prolongs the wedding experience for our Bride and Groom.

Whilst I am welcome to receive feedback in relation to any of our services, I feel your comment that you would not trust us to arrange an event is very unneccessary and undeserved. Our staff work exceptionally hard to ensure every detail of our hosts events are carried out effectively and efficiently. It is often months/years of planning involved and we work closely with our Bride and Grooms to ensure we put in place everything they have asked for. It is a very special day which will create memories to last them a life time...

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, I do appreciate the feedback but I would like the opportunity to discuss your comments in order to iron any issue's from our side.

Warmest regards

We have just come back from celebrating the best week of our lives. Starting with our wedding at Oldwalls at the end of May 2013. They were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and the day ran perfectly. The venue itself is beautiful and there were no end of compliments from our wedding guests who loved it. The staff were all super friendly, the food was great, accommodation good and they even sorted the weather for us in the end! To top it all off we had a fabulous breakfast the next day and they played music from the ceremony in the background! Nice touch! Thanks to Andrew, Emma, Lauren and everyone at Oldwalls who made our day so special. The perfect wedding venue that ticks all of the boxes!

We got married here June 2013. It was the first and only place we visited when looking for our perfect venue. It is absolutley stunning and I fell in love with it immidiatley. Debbie our wedding planner was adorable and extremely helpful throughout. We were even lucky enough to recieve a free nights accomadation the night aftre our wedding so we really could enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The day itself was perfect, staff were helpful and friendly throughout the day! Nothing to fault at all.
If any brides and grooms are looking for an ideal place for their wedding then this, hands down, is the place! 5 star treatemnt!

Room Tip: Book your wedding here! Perfection!

We enjoyed a fabulous wedding at Oldwalls earlier this month. Beautiful and romantic setting, especially when the sun started to go down and twinkling lights around the lakes and trees came on.

Food and service was excellent. The reception took place in a large marquee that offered perfect lighting for photography.

(My only gripe was the bright blue light at the top of the TV that shone a beam into our faces and lit up our bedroom! We covered the TV with a towel in the end but discovered the next morning that there is a switch on the right edge.)

Dear MillieMooWiltshire,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review - it is comment's like these that motivate us.
We have to agree, Oldwalls is located in a magical setting, the grounds are such a perfect compliment to our magnificant marquee.
I will be sure to pass on your compliments to all our staff, all our staff work very hard to ensure every detail our Bride & Grooms requests has been carried out.
We've been hosting weddings for a number of years and each one is different but very special.
We welcome and value your feedback.

Thank you, again, for your lovely comments.
