“Chloe and Tim's Wedding - April 2011”
Reviewed April 26, 2011

On Monday 25th April, 2011 we had a lovely time at Chloe andTim's wedding. Everything was so well organised. The venue, the weather, the food and the staff were fab The occasision of the marriage, the daytime and the evening entertainment were just right. The feeling of being at home in the cottages was so good, especially for those those of us who stumbled into very comfortable beds at the end of a long but glorious day - always a plus wherever you are - plus great living spaces for everyone.Thank you to Debbie (the wedding organiser) to Andrew and all the staff at Oldwalls; thank you for making us all feel so welcome and at home. I think I can say for all of us who stayed at Oldwalls and also for those who stayed nearby for this big family occassion we had a brilliant, exhilarating, exhausting but good family time. Thank you.

I am writing this review as the last reviewer has left a load fabrications and lies and didn't even stay at the venue,i know because he was our guest, family eh!

Firstly we had booked Oldwalls as our wedding venue as it is set in great location and we loved the feel of the place straight away. All the staff at Oldwalls were very helpfull and accomadating of everything we asked. even laying on transport for our guest!

The food on the day was superb! really amazing. We also had a hog roast in the evening. Hats off to Sam the chef he really made the food something to remember. Most of our guests were talking about how great the food was for days! and from weddings i have been to i would say it was the best i have had. We had guests with various dietry needs and they were all met to again a high standard. The food was made fresh and to order and was well worth the wait, for the quality we got, unlike some other venues.

Andrew and his staff at Oldwalls were A1 on the day, and helped us to have the relaxing wedding we wanted. In comment to the other review yes the champagne wasn't on time however that was me and the best mans fault! :-) not the venue. People were supplied with tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival even though this was not included. The receptionist even helped an elderly relative with settling in. No one was asked to pay for their breakfast in the morning as this was included (another lie by the last reviewer).

The accomadation is supurb and finished to a very high standard. Some of our guests were planning how they could stay on!!! a very relaxing nights sleep! we had our 2 1/2 year old daughter with us and a put up bed was supllied. Family friendly and caters for children well. oh and underfloor heating which was cosy. great value for money and as the bride and groom we feel it was money well spent.

I’m am not one for writing reviews, but i heard there was bad feedback for Oldwalls Leisure, and want people who go on these sites to PLEASE IGNORE the bad reviews Oldwalls have received. I had my wedding here in August 2010, it was the most beautiful wedding, everything was perfect, from the 5* accommodation to the 5* staff and food. Considering it rained on my wedding day, which i was devastated about, the venue and staff and food all made up for it. I’d like to thank everyone at Oldwalls for such a perfect day. I’d also like to thank Andrew the Owner of Oldwalls for being so patient with me as at times i was, some would say.... bridezilla! But Andrew went that extra mile to make sure i was 100% happy. Also thank you to Sam (Chef) - food was absolutely gorgeous, the comments I’ve had since have been amazing, and already one of my guests have booked their wedding for next year.

Booked after seeing website boasting home made jams, freshly squeezed orange and offer of breakfast in bed! Reality was jam in litttle plastic containers, orange from concentrate, plain white paper napkins and no adult cereals, just a random couple of children's packets. When asked about breakfast in our accommodation as wife has mobility problem, were told to come over and order, wait then take back! Added to dusty blind slats, TV remote broken and toilet cistern dripping all night, was not impressed at £240 for 2 nights.

We have just returned from 6 nights at one of the self catering cottages. ~The cottages were lovely however the kitchen could have been better equipped for self catering and some of the plates and dishes had chips in them. We were unable to make use of the wi-fi facilities as the laptop could not connect. We were advised that it was working but it failed for us. The football pitch was overgrown so couldn't be used. Also there was a lot of general building rubble lying about which we would have expected to be hidden away. It all appeared a bit neglected and whilst it didn't detract from our holiday (and the dog loved it) it was not 5 star as advertised.

A friend and I spent one night at Oldwalls, stopping over to explore the Gower Peninsula. The standard of accommodation was excellent and is really well kitted out for walkers, dog owners and self-catering. Welcome was a bit disorganised as I think they were preparing for a wedding. We were pretty disappointed at the breakfast (instant coffee really sums it all up) which for the top price of £118 a room was just nowhere near the mark. I hate to be negative as this place has so much going for it but this is something that can be easily fixed so hopefully it will be.

Spent a week in the dog friendly b&b and had the most fantastic holiday.

Simon and Andrew the owners made us all feel so welcome and were full of great advice to day trips out and places to eat in the evening.

It was doggy paradise, with free roam of the extensive grounds, including lakes to cool off in :o)

The B&B accomodation was first class, finished to a very high standard.

We will definitely be going back... the best place I've stayed in the UK and the Gower is just beautiful with lots of dog friendly beaches all year round.

A real gem.
