“Beautiful basic beach resort”
Reviewed September 18, 2013 via mobile

We had a great but eventful one night stay. The rooms are traditional style, basic but clean with shared toilet and shower facilities. We paid p1,000, which was expensive given the very basic facilities. During our stay there was a power cut which meant no running water and no showers, this wasn't the fault of the resort but at that price I expect to be able to take a shower.
The cliffs and bay in front of the resort are beautiful, it's worth staying at the resort just for the views!
The main issue we had at the resort was the food, we had booked ahead a few days in advance and had expected to be able to eat at the resort. Unfortunately as it was the low season, they had no food. We waited almost 2 hours in the dark for a tricycle to take us out to dinner, we then drove around for over an hour trying to find a resort that was open and had some food, we were turned away, very hungry from all the big resorts. Eventually we found the wonderful Villa Carolina where we received a very warm welcome and had a wonderful if very late dinner.
There is plenty to do in the area, the resort is a 30 minute walk to the beautiful Patar beach. The beach was very clean, quiet and peaceful but not very good for swimming due to the rough waves. We also walked to visit Cindy's cave, really interesting, beautiful caves.
Overall we had a really nice stay. Of staying during the low season, make sure you take your own food!

I came here to seek peace, and have a ME time. The view was very romantic, the customer service was great. The owner, Brett Solomon, came over from Manila to just to attend to our needs. You need to communicate with Brett through FB or SMS so he will know your requests in advance since supplies need to be bought from the town proper and the town is 2 hours away from the resort. They will adjust the prices according to your requirements or activities for the day. Kuya Geraldo, the cook and the resort's attendant deserves a raise for doing all the hard work.
It is also advisable to bring some canned goods just incase you plan to stay more than a day. You can have it cooked at the resort for a fee. The resort is a good place to drink. They don't charge corkage for hard drinks brought in as long as you tell them in advance. Let them know what beer you prefer before you go there too.
The rooms are clean and comfy enough. The beds are queen size and there is no air conditioning as the breeze from the beach is cold enough. Bathrooms are common and you have to walk a short distance from your room. The place is near the romantic lighthouse and Patar White Beach. If you can bring a car, it would be best. No wifi access or LAN so don't bring your gadgets.

Room Tip: Let the owner know how many will be staying in, how many children, what you prefer. He can adjust th...
