“Everything worthwhile except for expensive food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 29, 2013

Punta Riviera is an old resort which showed renovations during our visit this year. Despite the ongoing construction, the noise was barely heard because of the children playing and being pre-occupied with the scenery and nature. The repair and construction were not so bad at all. In fact, there was this new pool and a bridge was built to connect the resort to the shore. It looked complicated way back when you have to go out the resort gate and walk to the shore, but now, you can easily reach it through the bridge. Even if it was hours away, the travel was worth it. The children had fun, even our child of 8mos, and so did the adults. We brought food, however, because it was expensive at their resto.

Room Tip: Reserve early. If with children, book rooms away from videoke area

Note that this review is based off a trip back around June/July 2011.

The staff was wonderful - the owners' son was very welcoming and their prices were very reasonable. The only issue when we first came were the crickets in the rooms (there were about 10-12 of us). There were a lot of them and they had to do some cleaning - even after the fact, the crickets were still kind of an issue. Fortunately, it slowly went away the next morning. The pool is very cool to take your kids to, but I think other recreational areas were still being worked on or closed. Beach is average, but the place is very quiet if you need some serenity - especially at night.

Staff is wonderful - very welcoming and responsive. The food was alright.

Our big family stayed for one night and booked 2 family rooms which can accomodate 20 guests each . The rooms are very basic, with only one small TV in each , and 2 airconditioner as well. They actually have other room options, depending on the budget that you like . Bathroom and toilets are shared outside the rooms , and they provide soap and shampoo allocations for the number of guests . There is only one main restaurant , and you can order in advance , since they provide you with menu and dining place options.Food here is a little bit expensive , but tastes good. If you want to dine outside the resort, please be reminded that it is a good 5-10 kilometer ride to the nearest decent restaurant. Beach is shallow or low tide most of the time we were there , but it's not that big issue since they have 2 huge pools as an option . Regarding the activities offered, they have kayaking, beach volleyball, billiards and table tennis. A problem however is that we usually have to wait for our turn using the facilities since the resort is on almost full occupancy . The staff , particularly those in the restaurant and front desk are very accomodating. The smiles are indeed sincere, and they are very attentive . The management should give commendation to their personnel for being the major bright spot in their establishment . They offer free wireless internet , but could be only used in the public areas near the infinity pool areas and restaurant.

We booked an overnight stay in this resort having found it on TripAdvisor. The pictures in their website looked really lovely. We traveled 3 hours from Baguio and arrived in the resort in the afternoon. I was disappointed to see that the place was so small and the facilities a little cramped. I was looking forward to big open spaces as suggested in the photos. I guess they just had a very clever photographer for the shoot. The rooms were big, though, but the cable TV only had 4 channels :(. The infinity pool was lovely, and the lap pool, 'though small, was ok. The biggest disappointment was the beach. IT was so shallow! Really only good for picture taking and beach volleyball. No swimming and snorkeling. On top of that, food was so expensive. It was like eating in a Manila high-end restaurant except that food wasn't even that great. The only redeeming factor of this resort was the staff. People were helpful, courteous and accommodating. But I learned that the resort uses people who are under training in its own school. I don't think we are going back to this place. It is not worth it to travel all the way to this resort just for the view!

Punta Riviera arguably is located at one of the best spots in the Bolinao coastline. While not situated in the more picturesque Patar Beach, their spot is something to envy.
The resort is where the Ilog Malino and the beach cross paths, and creates a uniquely shaped beach from where couples stroll at night and families with toddlers spend the whole sunny afternoon. The view when you swim in their infinity pool is really nice; wait for the sun to set.
Rooms are basic, even a bit overpriced but you'll sleep comfortably. The food is good, though we felt they should offer more varieties.
Dont forget to go the the 2 falls (Big falls and Tara falls) which are 45mins away, to the Enchanted Cave and the Lighthouse while you're in town!

The experience was splendid.. Love the infinity pool and the landscaping.. Free Kayaking was great (thirty minutes is enough for us).. The food was pricey but since they serve it in large orders (even though its just good for two) we have no complaints.. The rooms we rented out had air conditioners and the beds (and pillows) were soft and spacious.. The beach is great if you have kids with you.. Because of the river, the strong waves do not reach the beach so your kids can just wade around.. Why give four stars only? The house keeping staff only gave us towels upon request.. No free soap.. The bridge going to the beach is unstable.. No lifeguards on duty.. but the staff were most accommodating :)

Room Tip: Don't pick the ones near the karaoke unless you're a heavy sleeper.

6000 peso for 3 persons overnight in la mera room. Matress hard as rock and noisy aircon. Rooms clean but very standard and no soap! Food ok but takes forever to get but this is informed by staff. We went there to have some privacy on the beach but it is not good and plenty seaweed. Pool is nice! Will never return to this resort due to the beach and price. Not much people and this is probably the reason they need these prices!
We really dislike these freebies that are limited to 30 minutes and you need a lot of registration to be able to do. Better put prices on everything and clearly show them but better give freebies to small groups that needs more activities during the stay!

Room Tip: Find another resort
