“Great historic area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2013

Besides views over the River Dee to North Wales the area offer the best homemade ice cream anywhere in Wirral. There are many buildings over five centuries old. The boathouse has history going back to pirates and smuggling. Famous in the area for wildlife especially on the marshland.

“Lovely fish and chips”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

Went for a stroll along the front last Sunday. Unfortunately, it was rather windy so the walk was not a long one, just enough to appreciate the views out over to Wales and whet our appetite for the delicious fish and chips. The chips were amazing - not in the slightest bit soggy or tasting of old fat! And the ice cream shops are legendary too!

“Celebrate a walk with ice-cream”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2013

Nice place for either a walk, or as we do cycle along the Wirral Way and then reward yourself with an ice-cream from Nicholl's. Yum yum.

Lots of seats along the front if you want a rest and also popular with bird-watchers.

“Old memories.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2013

It took me back to my childhood as Dad used to take my younger brother and myself on bikerides there. There was a shop along the front, I seem to remember, that sold shrimps out of the window in little paper bags, and you could also get Hoylake flukes and dabs for tea. The estuary has silted up greatly since those days, and taken over by grasses, but it's still a great place for a stroll. In those days the Boat House, further along the front, was owned and run by a dairy in Lower Bebington, for which I used to work on a milk round. Love the place!!
