We stopped for coffee on our way down south. Delicious coffee! They also had blankets at all the tables which was a nice touch.

This cafe offers you a choice of indoor and outdoor tables in a pleasant environment. On sunny days, the doors are opened up and the whole place feels light, airy and welcoming. There is an expensive blackboard menu (Auckland prices) but lots of appetising cabinet options at better prices. Even at busy times, the meals come fairly quickly, and the coffee is good. Add to this the clean toilets, and you have a good place to stop and break your journey as you drive through Taihape.

Great alternative to the Brown Sugar. We ended up here after being turned away with dogs and found that they were welcome on the verandah at Le Café. Nice food and nice ambience. Now we have discovered it we may use it more frequently.

Since my last meal hear about 9 month ago the service and quality of the meal (we had) has gone down hill.

Ordered burgers and chips at about 11.45 am, after about 30 minutes politely asked the waitresses to see what the delays were and she seemed totally unconcerned with delay.

When burgers finally arrived at 12.30 ish (45 minutes from placing order) Chips were nice but burger buns were dry and (for what was charged) the filling very basic and bland.

They certainly were not worth the wait/ value for money.

Went for dinner and we weren't disappointed. Escargo, confit duck and lamb all exploding with flavours and tender to the point of ridiculous. The wine list was good and the price extremely reasonable. While we enjoyed this top class fare children were enjoying their hamburgers, hotcakes and fush n chips. Decided to try breakfast as well and again it was great. Casual but with the right degree of service. A little chilly so we needed to make use of the throws provided on all chairs. Would revisit.
