Totally welcoming. Lovely place to arrive to. We hadn't booked and were made welcome and taken to our self contained unit with great little kitchen. beer and chips plus generous stock of milk coffee tea etc. peaceful, clean, relaxing. gorgeous roses. and a surprise 10 percent discount when we paid next day. have cards for discount next stay for us, or others :) GIVE IT A GO, even worth a trip out of town for a day to stay. Definitely going back next time I'm up that way.

Turning up late at night in pouring rain we were greeted with a room already warm with the heater on, and the owner offered me a cold beer to relax after a long drive.
The fridge was also stocked with food for breakfast.
The motel seems to be a bit older and our room had a bit of a 70s feel to it but it was clean and tidy and comfortable.
Both the reception and our room had photos on the wall of Greek attractions.

The price was very reasonable as it was, but on checking out the owner gave us cards with a hand written discount for the next time we might want to stay.

Our motel unit was clean and tidy. It had a well equipped kitchenette. The owners were very friendly. We were greeted with a cold beer and crisps.
There was free wifi.
We even got a gold card discount!
A good place to stay overnight while travelling to or from Wellington.

Stayed for two nights, was totally blown away with the service and the cleanliness of the unit. When we arrived we were given a can of beer and a bag of chips each and then in the motel was bread, butter, jam, milk, coffee, sugar etc and the daily newspaper. Totally worth the stay and would definitely stay again. Theres a lot of places that could benefit by visiting this establishment - Just a top class operation run by Con and Lisa P.S. The roses are totally fab

We stayed here to break a car journey between Rotoroua and Wellington. I was travelling with my ageing mother and my two kids, so wanted to split the trip into two half days. I called ahead and explained my requirement for three separate sleeping areas. The Motelier couldn't have been more pleasant, understanding or helpful. When we arrived in the early evening, he was on hand to show us to the room, and provide us with a couple of beers and bags of crisps. Everything we needed for a stopover was there - including coffee, tea, milk, cereal, bread, butter, jam, etc - and there was even a big jug of fruit squash in the fridge. The Motelier then provided us with the loan of a dvd for the kids to watch in the evening, and gave us directions to the local swimming pool, and to places to eat. The 'room' consisted of a shower room, toilet, two bedrooms and a living space, which included the kitchen area and a sitting area with a sofabed. It was perfectly clean and tidy, if not hugely modern. We only stayed one night, and to be honest Taihape itself is a 'pass-through' kind of town, so I'm not sure I'd ever want to stay more than one night. But, I would definitely stay there again!

We stayed here on our trip from the South Island to North Island, with our little baby, we hadn't made a booking and were driving and driving looking for somewhere to stay and found this little Gem, we turned up quite late in the evening and met the owner, what an absolute legend, so friendly, he showed us round and offered us a room for a bargain $80 it had a kitchen with everything you would need and he gave us a bag of chips and a couple of beers, the room had a bit of a greek theme gong on like the owner but it was nice, it was clean and their was even bread and jam for the morning, the room had two queen beds there was a tv with skysport so we could catch the rugby and a dvd player, there is also a library of dvds in reception, The owner is one of the best hosts we have met on or travels and his motel is great

Got off the Wellington ferry and decided to see how far we could drive. Arrived late afternoon in Taihape and stayed here. Very friendly owner, is like stepping back into the 50s but clean and tidy. Good overnight stay whilst passing through. Highly recommend if looking for somewhere cheap just to bed down for the night.
