“Shippon - Amazing place, fantastic owners”
Reviewed January 28, 2014

We stayed with friends at the Shippon on Wyke Farm. We had a wonderful stay, we loved the accomodation, it was immaculate ! Very clean which is a must when we had two young children with us and very well laid out for two couples with children to be able to share the same property. We were made to feel very welcome after our long drive on our first day and we knew we could ask Kathryn or John any questions or seek advice whenever we wanted, they were always available if we needed. Our friends left some clothes behind which Kathryn was quick to resolve and got them sent out in the post to them.

Many thanks for such a lovely review; glad you had a super time. Pricing is of course very much determined by the holiday cottage company we partner with and their knowledge and understanding of comparable properties. Thanks for taking the time to write a review, it helps us and anyone looking to make a booking with us. Best Wishes, Kathryn & John

My daughter and I recently spent two nights here having attended the Baking course at River Cottage.
Kathryn and John made us most welcome and could not do enough for us to make our stay memorable.
Our room was spotless with very comfy beds.
Breakfast was first class with everything we needed
The farm is in a fantastic setting very close to both River Cottage and Axminster
We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone

My new husband and I spent one night here last weekend as we had bought a night at River Cottage as a first week anniversary for ourselves. It was fantastic. The rooms were spotless, massive and decorated simply and stylishly. We'd been finding it tough to find affordable BnB's that weren't covered in awful paintings, dark curtains and floral bedsheets. Wyke Farm has a perfect contemporary aesthetic. The buildings have been beautifully restored and we felt like we were a million times away from everything. The cooked breakfast was non-greasy, delicious, fresh, and homemade from local ingredients. I can't recommend this place enough and wish we'd had a full weekend to enjoy it.

Room Tip: We had the room closest to the breakfast room, it was huge and had a fantastic bathroom and great sh...

We stayed one night before visiting River Cottage the following day. The room was huge and beautifully presented and not at all what you would expect from 'bed and breakfast'. The farm is in a most idyllic spot with some stunning views and Kathryn and her husband were just lovely. We will definitely be staying again when we are in the area.

We stayed only one night here, but would definitely return: the rooms are lovely - large, perfectly furnished and modern, but set in a real working farm in a lovely rural setting, only a few minutes from Axminster.
Kathryn, the owner, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about things to see and do in the local area.
In addition the breakfast was gorgeous, especially the eggs which were, of course, freshly-laid on-site!

We spent one night here. We have a 3yr old & a 16mth old. We had a self contained space of the Shippon which comprised a king sized double & a twin bedroom with space for a travel cot. We had a Private bathroom too. Kathryn couldn't have been more helpful in organising g our stay & was thoughtful in supplying baby friendly essentials such as high chairs, toddler cutlery, & hot chocolate at breakfast! We particularly appreciated the time Kathryn took to show our children the lambs... Our boys loved feeding them & the adventure of walking up to their field. The welcome we received from Kathryn's husband was great after a 7hr journey... Bright smiles & waving! We loved Wyke farm & hope to return. Our only grumble was that we couldn't stay longer! Thank you.

The accommodation is amazing, built from a barn, light, modern and beautifully furnished. The rooms are huge, we had one with an extra twin bed and one with a sofa bed. Each room opens onto a courtyard, and you can walk around the farm, we enjoyed visiting the chickens and sheep! Breakfast was delicious, a huge variety and set us up for the day. Kathryn is a wonderful host, friendly and extremely helpful with local knowledge. There is a lovely view from the farm of the rolling hills, it is just beautiful and you instantly feel relaxed. There is a lovely two or three bed cottage that would make a perfect retreat, we will definitely be coming back.
Myself and my family were in the UK from Canada, we have travelled extensively in Canada, US and UK, this is the best place we have ever stayed, it was the highlight of our trip this year!
