We had a lovely meal of crispy pigs head which was excellent followed by wild boar with creamed potatoes and broccoli and salsa verde, the wild boar was alright but nothing to much more, the p. sprouting broccoli was superb and absolutely the best, the creamed potatoes were mashed potatoes. and the salsa verde lacked a bite, our other dish was a grilled gurnard with crab and barley risotto, chilli and kale, all excellent and delicious. We finished with a chocolate brownie and ice cream which wa s ok. the fish dish was a very nice size all other dishes were very small. very nice spanish white wine and a very friendly and professional service. But it is slightly overrated.

Sunday lunch - the food was good in the main, but you expect a high standard. What you don't expect are the small portions which leave you wanting more, a lot more. I don't mind paying for good food but I feel cheated if I pay well and end up with child sized portions. Eating here could cause you to lose pounds in more ways than one!

I visited the River Cottage Canteen just after it first opened and was quite disappointed so its taken me a few years to go back. This time the food was excellent good choices available full of flavor well presented.
What surprised and delighted me was that it was terrific value for money. Wine from £14 a bottle starter for two under £8 you can have a first class meal for two for under £60 now that is good value. So well done River Cottage you get a thumbs up from me.

Lovely atmosphere here. Young, polite staff members waiting on were very knowledgable about the food and wine. Relaxed informal dining. Deli is also open to buy delicious goodies. The menu has some interesting and different dishes. Very happy with our evening, would definitely re-visit.
