“A different location this year!”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

Stayed at Yannis in August of this year, having been to Nidri several times previously and always staying at the other end of the village, but wanted a package this year so opted for this accommodation with Cosmos. Happily impressed! The accommodation was typically Greek style, tiled floors, wooden furniture etc., but attention to detail made all the difference and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Really nicely presented little hotel. The family running the place were very friendly, extremely helpful and most welcoming. And when I say family, I mean the whole family. Great pool and pool bar terrace, neither we're huge, but big enough for the hotel guests. Stunning views out over the harbour. Easy walking distance to anywhere in the village and far enough away from the 'waterfront' to avoid then noise. Over all, I would definitely recommend the hotel to friends and family.

Having been dubious about the Greek economy, we booked a package with Cosmos. We selected this accomodation from the list, and glad that we did. Its as good as waterside, a small road between you and the sea, but no issues, its very quiet. Its not for swimming though, as it is the marina end. Staff were friendly and attentive. So nice to see the whole family involved. Rooms are good, tiled with air con. Kettle provided and a coupole of cooker rings should you feel the need to cook anything. Fridge that worked ok. The pool was lovely, its not overly big, but does get to 3m depth. As for the noise at night, we were located in the rear appartments and did not find it intrusive at all, however, we were usually out in town until the early hours so probably did not notice anything much.

All in all a most pleasant stay, and I will go back in the future. Highly recomended.

Room Tip: Book early if you want a waterside appartment.

We enjoyed our stay at the Yannis Aparthotel - had read the reviews before going and were not surprised that our room was not at the front, we probably would have had to pay a lot more. We were lucky in that our balcony did have a view down to the sea between two buildings. It is noisy at night as there are many restaurants nearby and the bar has Sky football on. It goes quiet after midnight, but if you want a good nights sleep, pay for Air Con and shut those windows!

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the pool kept very clean. It is a great place to come back to after a busy day doing whatever - and enjoy a beer and a dip in the pool. Self catering is very limited, but possible if you are good at one-pan meals and enjoy salads. Facilities are basic and you'll need to pop to the local supermarkets (of which there are many) for washing up liquid, sharp knives, oil to fry things in etc.

Room Tip: Pay for Air Con, even though its an additional 6 Euros per night. Ask for sea view - you never know...

This holiday came up as a B & B and we booked it. Information stated that rooms had self catering facilities, kettles etc. We had the misfortune to be in Room 12 with no kettle or self catering equipment at all. After asking if we could have a kettle we were told that
as we had booked bed and breakfast we were not entitled to a kettle. Room 12 is awful - well the room isn't awful but the outlook from the window is. It looks down onto the kitchen of the restaurant next door and their toilets. The noise and smell from the kitchen is awful and goes on until early in the morning. It has a wraparound balcony with Room 11 (they were lucky and were at the front of hotel and had a sea view) so in theory anyone from Room 11 could walk around and in our patio door and viceversa. Not too much of a problem as we had spoken to the people in Room 11 and they seemed very nice. But had we not liked the look of them it would have meant keeping our patio door shut all the time.
The balcony was so narrow that if we both wanted to see the sea view which involved looking to the left we had to sit one behind the other! It was very disappointing and we were stupid not to think of asking to change our room but after getting grief when we asked for a kettle it didn't seem worth the hassle.
The hotel itself is very clean and pleasant. The pool area is small but there are about 24 sun beds around it and there were usually a few available with no need to put a towel out.
The bar area is lovely with comfy chairs and a TV and the drinks and snacks are very reasonable. The hotel is right on the sea front and the people who have sea views (probably only about 8 out of all the rooms in the hotel) were very lucky. Nidri is lovely with lots of people watching in the evening when all the boats come in. But I would be very wary of booking this hotel again unless I was guaranteed a sea view. The rooms that are in the block behind whilst not overlooking the toilets or restaurant had no views at all just other peoples balconies.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a sea view.

In Greece you do not expect the height of luxury and it is no surprise that Yiannis does little to change your preconception. However the appartments are well positioned just slightly away from the centre of Nidri but in easy reach of the beach, shops and Tavernas. The best rooms to get are on the harbour front as they have lovely views across the water. We didn't get that but of course not everyone can! The staff are friendly and approachable, The maid comes in every day without fail, the room was clean and the partioned shower makes a big difference - plus the shower actually worked which cannot be said for all Greek accomodation. The free wi-fi is very welcome though I have no idea why they need to change the password every couple of days because sometimes you have to ask busy morning bar staff for the password who can be too busy to help you - perhaps it's only really available for pool bar guests but this wasn't clear to me.
Kitchen equipment is basic in the extreme and there is no room to actually prepare food, other than on the draining board! That said I would thoroughly recommend Yiannis.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room overlooking the pool if you can

This holtel is perfectly located, close to the promenade and town life, yet in quiet surroundings. Not all rooms have equally good views, but they are nice and always kept clean and fine.
You feel at home and there is a relaxed and friendly service.
We enjoyed our stay and could find to come again.
Thanks for a wonderful stay.

We have been to nidri 4 times, but this was our first time staying at Yannis. It is in a supurb location right on the sea front, close to all the surrounding resturants, bars, shops and just down the round from the ferry and other boat trips. All the staff are extremly friendly, and welcoming. we had two rooms, 27 and 29 which had amazing views of the sea and the swimming pool from the baclony. The rooms were very spacious, with cooking facilities, walk in showers and big balconies with table and chairs. the rooms and all the hotel areas were always kept very clean and tidy and had a very homely atmosphere. There is a very nice pool bar, with comfy chairs and tvs with lovely views of the sea front and the pool area. They offer a wide range of food and drink through out the day, but deffiantly make the best full english breakfast in town, at a very good price. The bar man, is so welcoming, friendly and funny and really takes the time to come speak to you and make you feel so welcome. We spent many evenings relaxing in the bar, enjoying the amazing views. They offer a wide range of drinks including cocktails, but you must try the bar mans milkshakes,.. cause they are the best in town and to die for. We would definalty recommend this hotel and loction to everyone and we are hoping to return again next year.
