We spent a week - August 2012 - in Lefkada staying at the George hotel situated in Nudri. Upon our arriving, we realized that there was no room available for us to stay which caused great discomfort since we kept moving from the one to another for two days. Hopefully, the misunderstanding was settled. Another thing that disappointed us was breakfast. Not only was not a wide variety of dishes offered but to our disgust we noticed that members of the staff put their bare hands in the cereal bowls and who knows where else!! On the overall, we enjoyed our stay. Lefkada rules!!

Been to nidri many times (14 i think) and these rooms are the best we've stayed in . The location is spot on , near enough to everything nidri has to offer but quiet enough to relax . The room ( 109) was on the top floor at the rear with a great view of the hills . The pool and bar area were very clean and the staff were great . We plan to go back next year and wil again try and book the George

Beginning and ending of holiday was adversely affected by Thomas Cooke Airlines running 1.5 and 2 hrs late respectively, thus, we arrived at the George sometime approaching midnight. Maria was there to greet guests and allocate rooms to about 20 guests arriving at the same time. Check in was as quick as possible. Once at our room on the thrird floor, the air conditioniong unit was not working and the temperature was nudging 90 degrees. Maria ushered us to the bar, gave us free drinks and duly sorted out the air conditioning unit quickly. It was one of the best and quiet units I have ever come across, including a "quiet" setting for night.
In the morning, we found the room had a great view out over countryside and mountains beyond. The balcony was generous in size whilst the bathroom, although a little small, was like the room, spotlessley clean. Bedding and towels were constantly changed.

Swimming pool was clean and of good size and the water temperature just right- although the hotel didn't seem to have anywhere to store plastic piping . There were adequate umbrellas and sunbeds around the pool and the garden area for most of the days, although some of the subeds were unusable due to disrepair.

Breakfast was fine, the service was generally good and throughout the whole staff were friendly. The BBQ night with entertainment was good but unhurried-indeed there is a great holiday laid back feel to the hotel. The bar hewre was fairly quiet at night-probably as a result of being so close to a wide range of other bars on the main streeet.

Maria sorted out our room for 40 Euros on the last day as we were not being picked up until 7pm. This was great as it gave you the best part of another day relaxing rather than sitting around in "going home" clothes.

Other guests at the hotel were friendly and entertaining-there didn't seem to be any cliques. It was that sort of place. The main street of Nidri is a couple of minutes stroll out of the hotel, whilst the harbour maybe five minutes away.

Nidri itself is centred around the harbour and one longish main street. The latter is busy with traffic for most of the day and although some of it is allegedgly pedestrianised at night-scooters and bikes just carry on. The harbour area is lined with many restaurants and cafe-bars and large yachts and other boats-people gravitate towards this area at night, although there are other restaurants along the main road. We enjoyed the Pinewood restaurant and Ikarus cafe bar in particular.

We were a little disappointed that Thomas Cooke were not running two of the trips we were looking forward to but the rep (Phil) said there was no demand. However, we did enjoy the Thomas Cooke boat trip to seven Ionian islands and the star gazing evening visit to Meganissi. We also went twice ourselves on the ferry to Meganissi -at 1.90 Euros- a real baragin for a 40 minute sail (pay on the boat). We went on the evening trip to Lefkada Town-enjoyable, very chic, but make sure you know what time the coach is picking you back up- as it pulled up in the middle of a busy road and there was no time for a head count ( and no rep on board). Anyone late could still be there now.

Room Tip: Get whoever shows you to whatever your room to show you how to lock it-we spent ages trying to work...

I have recently returned from a 2 week stay at the George hotel
The hotel is well managed and the pool and grounds are well maintained, the pool is cleaned morning and night
I stayed in room 304 which was very spacey and cleaned everyday, if you want your towels changing daily just leave them on the floor
The king sized bed is one of the most comfortable i have slept in whilst staying away from home
Air conditioning is 8 euro's per night 112 euro's for a 2 week stay, it was very warm so we needed it.
If you want to keep your room late on the final day it is 40 euro's
Breakfast is served between 0830 and 1030, there is a choice of boiled egg, fried egg or scrambled egg, cerials and yogurt
The pool opens at 10am, just be aware when more fellow brits are staying they tend to be up early to put there towel reservation down for the day around the pool
The gardens are very floral
The hotel holds a good strategic position, 5 minutes from the port, where there is a selection of different boat trips sailing to different islands, dont book the trips through your rep, the majority of the boat trips cost 15 euro's for a full day sailing
Overall a very relaxed hotel and an enjoyable stay
One last thing to mention the hotel bar has a happy hour from 1700 - 2000

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views

I just came home from the most enjoyable hotel stay ever in Greece, and I am an experienced island hopper. Hotel George is a real gem. The location could not be better, George is tucked away in a quiet street close to the main street and the beach. The pool and bar area is the perfect place to come back to after a day of exploring the fantastic beaches on the west coast. Everything is nice, clean and tidy, and the gardener is always busy maintaining the lawn and the flowers. There is plenty of sun beds, fresh towels are provided, and the bar service is first class. Konstantinos makes the best Mojito on Lefkas, and would not dream of using anything other than fresh menthe from the Hotel garden.
We had a mini suite, room 221, with two balconies, one facing the pool area, the other one facing the garden and the mountains. The room is very comfortable, with a good and quiet air condition, and kept very clean. Fresh towels and linens every day. The bathroom is a bit small, but plenty of warm water, which is not always the case on the islands.
The Oil and Vinegar restaurant offers good, home made food, and is highly recommended both for the food and the sevice.
The owner/manager Maria is constantly making sure that all everything is running smoothly, and her warmth, humour and hospitality is unforgettable. Khalid, her right hand is the friendliest and nicest host imaginable, and he will allways do his best to help you any way he can. The same goes for the entire staff, and they work well together as a team. The staff is the secret behind the wonderful friendly and informal athmosphere at George Hotel. We cannot wait to be back!

Booked a double room for 14 days through Thomas cook, and found that our room was so small you couldn't swing a cat. There was half a wardrobe and no cupboards or drawers. The room was so small you could hardly get past the bed. The bathroom was so small the door banged into the sink.
The manager blamed Thomas cook for reserving the room.
We then paid over 200 euros for an upgrade to a room that was the one in the brochure
And then paid 116 for air-con!
Food was basic.
Staff ok.
Pool not bad.
Location good but would never recommend this hotel.
Have been to many many Greek islands and the standard was always been far superior than this.

Room Tip: Try a different hotel
