Description: With its records dating back to 1757, The Peterboat is a pub rich in local history. This, along with the gorgeous panoramic views across the Thames Estuary, has established the venue as the true heart of Old Leigh. Paying homage to our traditional roots and waterfront setting, our food and drink choices are exciting and varied. Our varied menu includes 'Traditional Fish'n'Chips' and our famous ' Cockle Chowder' - served with a great view over the Thames Estuary . The Peterboat is an all rounder - In the summer our extensive patio is the best place to soak up the sunshine and take in our panoramic views across the estuary. In the winter our cosy open fires provide the warmest of welcomes. At any time of year great service and customer care are embedded in our ethos - we look forward to welcoming you.

We did not have a reservation but came in just before 12nn and im glad we did as the place was packed within 30 minutes of our arrival. We ordered the mahi mahi special, soup and mussels and everything was lovely. Even though the place was packed, the staff were making sure everyone was being attended to. Would go back again. Thanks for an amazing service!

My husband and I booked for Saturday lunch and good job we did it was packed. Our waitresses Shelly and Jess were superb and the service was faultless. Food was great and would wholeheartedly recommend but suggest you book in advance

I have been to The Peterboat a number of times and always loved it! However this time even though we had pre-booked a table in the restaurant for 6pm, we were kept waiting for 20 mins in a crowded bar with nowhere to sit or perch. Had it just been us we wouldn't have minded too much but we had an elderly person with us.

When we were eventually seated, it was at a table in the main bar which we had never experienced before, we had assumed we would be seated in the quiet restaurant area like always. It was outrageously noisy and not the atmosphere we were wanting, we had to shout across the table but still couldn't really hear anything.

The food was nice, it always is. However they had run out of the dessert of the day by 7pm which seemed a bit odd as we must have been one of the earliest bookings.

They removed our first round of drinks from the bill by way of apology for the long wait to be seated - which was a nice gesture which we appreciated.

I would return, but only if I could guarantee being seated in the proper restaurant, the bar area on a saturday evening is just not suitable and they should make it clear on booking if you will not be seated in the proper restaurant so you know what to expect and can re-plan if needed.

Dear Diana
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. I am sorry to hear you were not happy with the delay and seating location on your most recent visit.
In regards to the desserts - we create these all in house and make a number of portions - when this product runs out we move onto the next one.

We would happily seat you in the main restaurant area, not our bar area seating - just let us know when making your booking.

WE do hope you will return soon.

We had a birthday lunch today 19th January at The Peterboat and although they were very busy and it was a Sunday the service and food was excellent. The venue is run very professionally and staff are friendly and efficient. The staff who waited on our table, Conor and Jess were lovely and very attentive. We had a slot from 1.45 to 4.15 but did not feel rushed at all. Our party included 4 children and they were very well catered for.
