A little bit of history, with cobbled streets, unique shops and atmospheric pubs as well as the famous shellfish stalls and a fresh fish market at the end. It is good to amble along the main road in Old Leigh, and there is a longer walk through, by the sea to Westcliff at the end of the road. Do try Sarah's Tea Shop for the most delicious carrot cake and other home made goodies.

I have lived in southend for over six years and keep on going back to old leigh. Place has kept the same atmosphere for years as I can remember.
In the summer months it's a real gem to go and have clear crisp pint ( if not driving) and just relax into the after noon. The only down side is after 19:00 approx the palce gets very very busy and lots of young lads hang out and can get a bit intimiadating at points. If you have young children tehn it's best to keep till mid afternoon.
Great transport links for train travel. Paking can be tight during high season and beware traffic officers are not shy to ticket cars as i have witnwessed many times with other cars.
Happy days to remember

A great choice on a saturday evening for a couple. Plenty of choice for eating including the Mayflower pub which is at the back of a chippy. There is often live music on a Saturday in the Smack and everyone is friendly.

Old Leigh has a character of it's own. There is lots to do and pubs along the water, great place to spend a sunny afternoon.

This is a VERY popular spot locally. It still retains its olde worlde charm. Lots of pubs and restaurants all of good quality, as well as the cockle sheds selling local seafood. It has a lovely atmosphere, and makes a pleasant place to visit. Parking is fairly limited, and traffic wardens vigilant, but well worth visit for a good walk alongside the sea.
