Having previously been to the Rose Garden when it was in Hockley when we saw it had moved to Rochford closer to us we followed it and have been there now several times for lunch from work. To be brutally honest their new location above the Miley Pub/Bar is not a good location and if we hadn't had previous good experiences at the Rose garden we would have been unlikely to bother trying it out,
The lunchtime menus ranges from salads and hot sandwiches through to some gastropub type dishes. Quality and quantities are good mains between about 6-10 pounds . Their Cajun chicken sandwich for instance includes a full hot grilled chicken breast sliced inside large ciabatta bread type roll with good dressing, decent side salad and large home cut chips will leave you full as a lunchtime dish at from memory about £6.50 and with inexpensive drinks , we regarded it as good value.
It is almost empty at lunchtimes which I can only attribute to its location and people not knowing it to be there!
Haven't been to evenings with their full restaurant type menu but our friends report good things and I believe it is busier.
My advice to the owner would be to locate another more visible local site as soon as possible your quality deserves more customers than you are seemingly getting!

We had a wonderful evening at The Rose Garden. The night we went we were the only ones in the restaurant but that didn't matter as it was like having our own personal chef and waiter and didn't spoil our evening at all, in fact it enhanced it. The food was superb and we all 5 said it was the best food we had ever tasted! Some of us had 2 course and some 3 and everything we had could not be faulted at all. The wine prices were reasonable too which was a welcome change. We had a lovely evening and will certainly be going back. The only downside was that the restaurant is upstairs to a pub and the night we went the pub music was very loud and overtook the restaurant music but again did not spoil the evening we just had to raise our voices a little to chat!!

The Rose Garden used to be in Hockley but moved a couple of months ago.

They are now a little smaller but that doesn't detract from the excellent food they serve.

They do sittings but it's not as bad as you think as you do get plenty of time for up to 3 courses. The cost per head is very good at £25 including drinks.

Reservations are a must.

We went there last night (Jan 2011) and were very impressed. I was a bit anxious about the fact it closes at 9 and that you need to bring your own alcohol- but actually it was good to bring your own and brought the cost down considerably. The menu and atmosphere was brilliant and the food tasted as good as it looked. I would defiantly go again. Only thing I would say is that the main courses look time to come out, which wasnt a problem because it was fresh and i didnt feel rushed, but you would need to go quite early to allow time for all the courses.

We have been to The Rose Garden on several occasions and it has always been excellent. The food is superb and the waiters/waitresses are polite, friendly and attentive. The only slight niggle I would say is dont expect to "pop" in for a quick evening meal as everything is cooked fresh and the wait between courses reflects that. Another bonus is the bring your own drink policy as this keeps the price down.
