Been a few times but last time was several years back as i been using other places, been meaning to go again so Thursday it was, arrived just gone 7pm, just one other table of diners present so got a good spot by the window for 2, an impressive menu was given out, instantly ordered a 500ml Bangla beer Ice cold...which is an incredible brew priced at £4.95 and was perfect for the food and i could of easily sunk 3 or 4.

Decor nice and modern.
Service swift and helpful.
Very Clean..

The Food..
Popadoms seemed slightly thicker than other places which was a plus
The Mango chutney had cumin seeds in...which was also a plus
The Hot Pickle was excellent, as was the Mint Yoghurt and onion salad, all prepared with detail.

We ordered our usual of Chicken Madras and a Lamb Pathia with Boiled rice, onion bahjees and 1 chilly/cheese naan and one plain naan.
The curry arrived in deep dishes accompanied by fancy boat shaped dishes for the rice which came with attention to detail, The Lamb pathia had plenty of soft lamb in with a 1st class pathia sauce...perfect.
The Madras was the same good amount of meat and a 1st class Madras sauce too we both agreed they where spot on, plus a decent amount of rice.
The onion bahjees came in 3 dainty ball shapes which where also good.
The naans where amongst the finest i have ever had perfectly made/cooked.
I would say the food was the best i ever had too and i been eating Indians for over 30 years,

Theres a 'Buffet' theme on Sundays which i will be trying soon and i was assured its the same quality that we had from the menu.

By 8.15 the place was full, theres a drawback though....luckily we got a table with some space by the window and i could see (and from previous visits years back) that some tables for 2 or 4 are very close as this is not a big place so when its rocking it might not be the ideal time for me and the Mrs to enjoy but we shall see.

all in all the shima is a place in a class of its own because of the attention to detail inc the use of 'real' spices in the dishes which you could genuinely taste and all round high quality, plates where emptied and We went any totally satisfied...and watch out for the hot towels at the end....don't mistake them for marshmellows.
This for me is the best around now...and hope it remains like that on our next visits to which i will do another write up for.

Cost: with 2 big beers was £41 for 2.....and for seriously good food this is ok.

Will be back soon and start using again for take-outs too.

Walked in one evening without a booking and were taken straight to a table. Service was reasonable and the food was very good - my partner said it was the best chicken korma she had ever had!
