Description: The Boatyard, Leigh-On-Sea The Boatyard combines the benefits of a modern purpose-built restaurant with the classic surroundings of the Old Leigh fishing village, not to mention the excellent food. Contained within what was previously a working boatyard, the building has been converted into a modern restaurant, fully air-conditioned with a state of the art music system, digital projection screen and a glass-fronted kitchen area . A panoramic polarised glass frontage provides uninterrupted views of the Thames Estuary and Two-Tree Island Nature Reserve. Even more spectacular views can be obtained from the stunning wooden deck which juts out into the water and spans the entire width of the building.

“Worst restaurant in essex”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2011

I've only been to the boatyard twice first was Christmas dinner 6 years ago, the food was very poor vegetables under cooked and Turkey very dry. Probably the worst Christmas dinner Ive ever had. But a few weeks ago I decided to go back and see if the food had improved. I went for lunch with a friend the restaurant only had 15 people in but took the waitress 15 minutes to bring me the wine menu. Finally we ordered our drinks and food at the same time, (thought it might help her out a bit) our starters came, small portions and not much taste, looked pretty only good thing. 20mins later our mail courses came, I also ordered some vegetables witch were very overcooked and tasteless. The main was OK but I think the chef should maybe use more salt in his cooking. We didn't bother with dessert probably bought in anyway (waste of money) we got the bill average value. Food very poor, service poor, will I go back no

“Never again”

Yes it's a nice place, open, modern looking and spacious with a nice terrace overlooking the river Thames. The food, however, all seems pretty bland, in short supply and relatively expensive. For example, a smoked fish starter that was basically a very, very small selection of smoked salmon and others at over £10......I've never looked so enviously at my wife's £6 soup! £20 for a grilled skate wing, plus extra for veg and potato kind just added to the disatisfaction.

Basically, there's loads of places to eat in Leigh and I'll certainly be making more use of them in future.

“The Best Restaurant in Town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2011

Every visit to the Boatyard is a treat - Sunday Lunch is just the best way to spend the day before the dreaded Monday morning feeling -

If you want a restuarant that wraps its arms around you and makes you feel happy then this is the place to go

“Buzzing! Great place to eat!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2011

The Boatyard is just offers great ambience and good food. We had Sunday lunch there with my cousin who was very impressed with the vegetarian meal selection.

Good value for money; pianist and singer created a wonderful ambience in perfect surroundings.

Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Impressive!
