“Booze up? Brewery?”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Visited with family and grand daughters on Sunday 5th May, bank holiday weekend. Arrived at 1400, took 10 minutes to get served. Ordered drinks and 4 sandwiches and two plates of chips.
Was only then told, after I'd paid that there was a 20-25 minute wait for food! I wish! after waiting OVER AN HOUR our sandwiches arrived, 10 minutes later, our chips. An absolute shambles. They stopped taking orders for food at 1430, not 1500 as advertised.
Seem to have loads of staff but no organisation. Owner kept re-arranging the bar stools (on the Titanic?)
Sandwiches were nice, chips were undercooked
As the title suggests, couldn't organise one

“All New”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

We used to go to the Jolly Fisherman when we were kids to get crab sandwiches and guess what they still sell them and they are tasty and fresh as always however its a whole new concept and they've done a splendid job but it was certainly necessary. The menu is compact and well written the bar drinks comprehensive the staff are warm and friendly. A great job we will return.

“It has been refurbished... improved!”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

The menu is still poor for 2 vegetarian visitors, however the service was good, and the establishment welcomed us and our dog into the snug area (understandably the views are reserved for those unencumbered by a soggy mutt!)

I reviewed this place before, and the service (and stylish decor) is now unrecognisable. WELL DONE.

However, a ploughman's (it was nice, lots of cheese!) as the only vegetarian option is very disappointing and it could have done with more carbohydrates on the stylish wooden platter (crisps would have been a fine addition rather than; 3 slabs of cheese, 2 home made pickles, 1 slice of bread and a salad garnish). As instructed, following my previous review, we did ask if there was any other options when we ordered. We were apologetically told that there was not.

As reviewed before, the people around us who ordered the crab were incredibly positive about their meals. If seafood is your thing, come here! Vegetarian's... maybe not.

“Great food lovely place”
Reviewed May 2, 2013 via mobile

Called here after a walk along the coastal path. once u enter the pub it is very modern compared to the outside and has a lovely raised eating area and a outside balcony. You can eat in the pub as well if you have a dog and muddy boots. there is also a lovely outside area to sit in popular with walkers looking for a well earned drink. we had the famous crab sandwiches which were delicous the evening menu board looked equally enticing. the toilets were very clean although i am not sure about being Labelled a fishwife did much for my street creed ! Great place with defo visit again

“First visit since renovations were done”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

The decor is lovely, well laid out pleasant surrounds while still keeping some of the original features. Limited parking so we had to drive a couple of streets away to park. We had drinks and decided to try the food in the restaurant raised area showing stunning views of the harbour and sea. The staff kindly informed us that our table was ready and our meal awaits us, which was a nice touch. Our meal was the angus beef burgers with chips, salad, relishand a larger bun. The presentation was excellent and the food was tasty
