The Jolly Fisherman is undergoing a complete re-furbishment. But they are still open for business and are still booked to the rafters almost every day. This small pub/restaurant in the coastal village of Craster is probably the most visited pub in the area. With the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle in the distance and views up and down the Northumberland coast, a meal outside in the garden is well worth the breeze and the time delays in service. Beers are basically outer London prices or thereabouts...£3.75 a pint of premium lager. Food is all home prepared and the seafood selection is perfect...and ALWAYS fresh!!!

Went there at night for dinner, the food wasn't as I expected. crap soup had the shell of the crap grinded, I almost chocked, the spices of the food was very disappointing. Caesar salad had fish in it where it didn't say in the menu; which was disgusting. The waitress was friendly and nice though. and the presentation of the food was nice also..

With the popularity of the place I thought it would be amazing, it wasn't.

Friday lunchtime, four of us went for a quick bite to eat. Had crab sandwiches, smoked salmon sandwiches, crab soup and soup do the day which was parsnip and apple, oh forgot that we also had two portions of lovely chips! Sandwiches come on wooden platters with crisps and small salad, bread soft and fresh, filling plentiful. Crab soup very rich and creamy, parsnip and apple soup light, mild and fresh - both soups served with artisan bread - fab. Oh the chips - worth going back for!!! Could do with a pepper mill on the table but I'm sure they will be on the tables soon as I hear they are doing a refurbish soon.

Another good recommendation from the owners of our guesthouse . We went for lunch - I had the crab soup (apparently their most popular dish) and it was absolutely gorgeous. Hubby had crabsandwiches and chips - also very nice but the soup was definitely the winner!
