“Decent site”

We stayed here for two nights in a tent and enjoyed our stay. Price was reasonable and facilities were clean. We have stayed at numerous campsites and this one was perfectly adequate.

The camping field was fairly busy and the site has limited views, however it is well located on the Northumberland Coast and also within the village, within easy walking distance (5mins) from the local pub. We took an evening walk from the campsite out to Dunstanburgh Castle and then down to the coast to Craster for a couple of pints at the shore side pub before returning to the campsite. This was an enjoyable round walk which we would recommend.

Been to this site quite a few times now and when I arrive I am made very welcome by the owners Rob and Ruth nothing seems to be any trouble to them and they will take you to your pitch and help guide you on to your pitch, Rob and Ruth do a very good job of keeping the site clean the showers and toilets are always immaculate and the same goes for the waste disposal area. My grandson who is 8 years old loves this site as there are always other children for him to play with never had any problems with him playing around the site there is a football field for playing ball games. the site itself is excellent value for money and has become my favourite site after touring since the start of 1981..I have read the negative reports about this site and it makes me wonder what people want maybe they should book a hotel instead, if you are a caravan person, tent camper, or motorhome user this site is the best in the area without a doubt...If you like a drink and a 1st class meal the "Cottage Inn" is the place to go, fantastic meals and a great play area for the children and bring your dog along and it is no problem to the owners of the Cottage Inn they are made most welcome. All in all I have to give Proctors Stead a 5 STAR RATING and the same goes for the Cottage Inn

Stayed one night in our camper van. Great location, 15 min walk to Craster. Nice site, very tidy and quiet. Ate at the Cottage Inn which is in the same village which was good and very handy. Excellent base for coastal Northumberland.

I visited with my friend and dog in a motor home. I found the owner pleasant and very accommodating (with a dry sense of humour) providing us with bus time tables and advise. A very pleasant few days and at a reasonable price. Would definitely stay there again.

Lovely campsite in a beautiful area, we pitched in a tent and the facilities were immaculate, lovely owners. Fab cycle routes and a lovely little pub just down the road. the coastal cycle route is beautiful with most of it off road, would def recommend this camp site.

Owners not too welcoming and friendly. Don't seem keen on kids but we managed to have fun on a family get together. Clean, dated facilities. Our field was pretty far from the toilet block. Sheltered wee site in great location but no play area at all. Would return.

Proctors stead is an inland camp site only a few minutes drive from Craster and Dunstanburgh Castle. We found the camp site appealing due to it's quiet location. The camp site facilities are basic yet cleaned numerously throughout the day. The owner seemed a likeable character and was pleasant and helpful. The fields were sheltered by hedges and the grounds well kept and tidy.
We were well placed to explore from Amble (south) to Holy Island (north) and in and around Alnwick too. We would definitely like to return here.
