Review of Guruvayur Temple

Guruvayur Temple

Pretty imposing structure. A temple dedicated to Lord Krishna in his glory of Vishnu Roop with 4 arms, carrying his Conch, Panchajanya, Sudarshan Chakra, Mace and Lotus flower in each hands. A very pretty statue which is more than 5000 year old as the legend says !

This is one of the 5 important temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu in India, the other 4 being in Puri Jagannath, Dwaraka, Nathdwara (Rajasthan) and ofcourse, Tirupati ! The entire economy of the town Guruvayur revolves around this Temple and the presiding deity, Lord Vishnu :-)

Its situated around 30Km from Trichur, Kerala. And there is a dress code to follow to enter the temple. Men should wear a dhoti and nothing on top, with an exception of Veshti. And women can wear sari or salwar. No western clothes. Its worth a visit so witness a sea of devout humanity and of course The Lord :-)

Lord Narayana in the form of a child, lives with and blesses every devotee from this divine abode. Legend has a lot to say about His benevolence to the helpless devotees, grace to those who surrender for His ultimate glance to wash off their sins and cure their pains. Thulabaaram, Narayaneeyam, Gnanapaana Sheeveli, Prasadam.... everything is special about this temple Guruvayurappan, though you get to have just a glimpse on account of rush throughout the year ensures you dharshan and peace!!!

To be included in your tour, if you believe in Sanaathana Dharma and want to be in Bhagavan's abode... the God who made you realise that you and me are ONE & THE SAME. He who told this world to know oneself more to know the GOD in you. Beware this is NOT a tourist place.

The temple has a long story to it, but to any hindu devotee it is one of the must see temples. The exterior of the temple has become more commercial in nature, but the interiors still has the same heart and force as ever.

This is one of the best Sacred temples in Kerala,But it lack a lots of service, Devotees from all parts of the world visit this temple, because it is so much spiritual whatever you pray to this Lord it would be heard. The management needs only money and the offerings from the people, the temple premises is very filthy, and not well maintained, there is a serpent like long lines of queue, one has to wait more than 5 hours to see the lord, but if you are wealthy and are influenced by politicians or any of the members of the police or members of the board, you will be able to see the lord by not waiting in the line for hours, remember in the line there would be mothers with their little ones ,some may faint and all little one will be crying with thirst not a single person would be there to the aid,You see how it works in a place like Thirupathi,it is a very well run temple, the people of Kerala should learn much from them,or let them manage thesesHoly places.
