The temple is good. But the management is pathetic. They have too much rituals. The crowd line piles up. They should something on this. God Idol is good. If the Q management is done properly, half the problem will be solved. Visit this temple and allocate at least 5 hours for Darshan time.

Situated near Trichur(or Thrissur) in Kerala, this Temple can rightly claim to have the largest number of visitors per day. The annual Temple festival is currently on. With a large number of Hotels and lodges surrounding the temple and with the Devaswom Board itself having its own accommodation facilities, it is not difficult for a visitor to find a place to stay once he reaches Guruvayur. The place is connected by Road and Rail.

It is considered sacred to have the Darshan in the early morning ( around 3.30 to 4 am) called the Nirmalya Darshanam. The temple is open from early morning till noon and then fron evening till night. Expect a queue to enter on almost all days. This temple has a high level of ritualistic customs. One cannot enter the temple wearing a shirt or vest, or pants and footwear. Even if you have to wait in the line, be assured you are going to love the moment when you have the Lord's darshan. the whole temple has an atmosphere of devotion and divinity and the temple has a long history and several stories linked to it.
A must see for any devote Hindu.

Guruvayur temple was so magnificent. We went in the evening and the temple was just glowing in light. The lamps were lit and the temple was buzzing with people. The shrine was like heaven. we get to see the Lord only for a minute but that minute was so wonderful. The Lord was so beautifully adorned and was smiling wonderfully. Definitely it is a crowded place but it does not matter when you are a devotee of Krishna. if not you have to be prepared to stand in the queue for like 2hrs. We were lucky. The temple has a ladies queue which moves faster and so we were able to get the darshan twice. Out side the shrine is a small pot with red seeds in it. It is believed that if you put money in it and then fling it inside the vessel, you will become smart. The Seveli was nice to watch with the tamed decked elephants going round the temple. It was a wonderful experience. Guys cannot wear shirts, pants, trousers, etc.. Girls are allowed to wear salwars.

As expected, the temple is for the faithful only. I would not want it any other way.
Since we are not though, we enjoyed the temple from the outside and it was very nice. I would however caution anyone from making the journey all the way out here if you are not already going through. It is really a long distance from anywhere, except the elephant reserve, where all the elephants are tied up in chains.

One of the most beautiful temples in India. Despite the crowds(especially during sabari mala season) the feeling of spiritual peace that envelopes you is worth being pushed around by people waiting in the queue behind you.We visit almost every year and come back feeling blessed each and every time.
