We arrived in Quelimane in the middle of the afternoon heat and went about to find a bed for the night. We started at Rosy's, on one of the main streets, found a room but the longer we stayed there, the worse the place became. There was no working flush in the toilet, the shower was not working and the "bucket" provided to help deal with all these let-downs was the size of a tea cup. We didn't even unpack, went back down to reception and told them we were not staying as nothing was working. After checking out the other options, most of them either full or more expensive, we found Hotel Milenio. The hotel had been open recently and looked pretty fancy but at this stage we were up for anything. And it turned out to be one of the best value for money places we stayed in our 5 months in Mozambique. We found a very clean room, with TV, fridge, air con and a spotless bathroom, all that for 1250Meticais (approx.40USD), a mere 7USD more than grubby Rosy's. The guy in reception was almost sorry when he showed us the room with the double bed, saying that it was the smallest he had... To top it up, once we booked in, we got a knock on the door and a waiter came in and offered us complimentary juice! Breakfast buffet is included, Wifi was being set up, there is ample parking space and we used room service for a late dinner once. I think the only thing missing to make it the best hotel in Quelimane is a swimming pool!
