Our stay spanned three days and i had not had enough of everything by the time we left. The people, the scenery, the food and accommodation was excellent!
We will most certainly come back for more. God bless you.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet and in the wild.

We tent camped here on the shores of Lake Elementaita. The area for camping is quite nice as it is right by the lake and they have a banda and restrooms nearby. We brought most of our own food but ate up at the restaurant one night and the food was very good. There was a guard who built our campfire for us every evening and also kept watch during the night. It was a wonderful setting for relaxation, bird watching, and hiking. They also have cottages you can rent that look very nice.

My family and I spend the weekend of December 20th to 23rd at Oasis eco lodge. Here's the break-down of our excursion;

1. Going to Oasis:
If you are driving from Nairobi, the road is great....until you hit Gilgil town and turn off the main road towards Oasis Eco Lodge. The road leading to Oasis from the main road will test any 4X4 so make sure you don't go with a car that has ample ground clearance. There are signs artfully written on stones by the side of the road and at particular boulders to direct you to the loadge. if it feels like you are lost, ask around and the folks will be glad to direct you.

2. First Impressions:
The first amazing vista as you desend down to the lodge is lake Elementaita (pics to come soon). The lodge is secure and it's good for guests to call a few minutes out before arriving (especially at night) to let the staff prepare for your arrival well. We were greeted by Anne who was a godsend through-out our stay. Anne exclaimed, "oh so you are the ones staying in the big house" which surprised me because from the pictures the cabin/lodge didnt look that beg, but we were pleasantly surprised when we were led through the night to our humble abode (will post pictures soon).

3. Staying and doing stuff
Our cabin was one of the new ones and it was magnificent. David and his team have done--and continue to do a spectacular job with the place. It had a kichenette available, slept 6 (only 4 of us travelled), and each room (3 in total) was self contained. the only drawback was the lights which were solar powered during the day and battery powered at night which meant that they would turn off after some time at night depending on how you utilize your energy. Remember you don't need to have all the light on, but with a family with young kids it was hard to do. Candles are provided and sitting in the loft with candle light after a long day spent hiking to the hot springs or any other intense activity is surely a welcome respite. Meals (including breakfast) were not covered in the cost (which I was assuming was what "full board" meant) and have to be scheduled by informing the staff (Anne or Magdaline) hours in advance. The meals they serve are fresh and nutritious and tasted good. We chose to request for supper before we left for the daily activities and just ate out in the town during the day. This we found out to be more cost effective and provided for variety.

No alcohol and tobacco is allowed on the lodge/camp site, but I'm sure you can bring something as long as you behave yourself.

Lake Elementaita is beautiful and camping grounds are available right by the lakeside if you choose to brave nature. I found there to be many mosquitoes by the lake so a good insect repellant is necessary especially if you have kids accompanying you.

All in all Oasis Eco lodge is perfect for a quiet getaway away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. No wifi was available (or at least I didn't ask....but why would I anyway?) at the lodge which meant human interaction was needed.....you should have seen the look on my teenage daughter's face when she realized all she could do with her smartphone was play sudoku :)

I would definitley go there again and recommend it to anyone looking for some quality quiet time. Keep up the good work Oasis staff!

This is one of my favourite places in Kenya. We've been coming here for many years. Sometimes we camp right by the lake other times we use the self contained tents or bandas. Last weekend we stayed in one of the bandas, and enjoyed it very much! While sitting on the balcony, we enjoyed the view of the lake as well as the forest. Great for bird spotting!. Breakfast was served at the lake...just magical. The scenery is beautiful and the birdlife amazing. The trip was organized by Dawn 2 Dusk safaris and they facilitated the transport to and from the camp as well as guiding during the bird walk around the lake. Managed to spot some birds that we've not seen before. Hope to go back soon!

Another very enjoyable visit. This time enhanced by pelicans and flamingos just across the lake from the camp. There is a new kind of accommodation - a house meant for families. Three bedrooms (2 with two double beds). Self-contained, if you want to do your own cooking. Staff remain friendly as always. Cycling around the lake is great.

A delightful place with very friendly staff. There is no view of the lake from the room, but you are surrounded by forest with lots of birds. A short walk takes you to the edge of the lake and sometimes breakfast is served there - wonderful! If you enjoy walking or biking, and bird watching there is plenty to keep you occupied. The camp is within easy reach of Nairobi and I have stayed there three times in the last year. Very enjoyable and highly recommended.
