Love going to the Red House. Used to go on a Thursday with my husband for the quiz night. Food always freshly cooked. Good sized portions and good value for money.

visited with 3 others on a Saturday night, they did greet us on entry and informed us there was going to be 30 minute wait for food but could be shorter, this didn't bother us.The menu isn't huge but it does have a variety of starters and mains, we skipped starters.I was torn between the gammon, cheese burger and hunters chicken but i went for the latter with a side of onion rings to share with my partner. He had the cheeseburger doubled up and our other two guests had the cheese and broccoli bake. The food was delicious and good sized portions, the only negative was my partners burger was a little dry, not very juicy. But we all enjoyed our food overall. There was a selection of drinks but unfortunately no stella. We had the dessert menu which had quite a choice and the desserts were generous portions and delicious, we had the banana split, american cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake. My only criticism is the ordering of food, as its normal to go the bar for drinks, you have to go up to order your food and pudding and the queue seems to be a bit all over the place. people are just scattered waiting to be served. The staff are friendly though. We sat towards the back where its a little quieter.

We have visited the Red House on many occasions. They had seemed to have the balance between good quality food and value for money just right. However, recently we have noted a drop in the standards of service offered to customers and a lack of attention to detail for customers.

On recently visiting this hostelry for Sunday lunch, we were forced to queue in Post office style to place our order for food (with 20 to 30 people in a queue) at the bar. While some of our 6 person party wanted carvery others wanted individual meals. All these orders were placed. However, when we asked (after some extended time) if the people who wanted carvery could be served without waiting for the members who had placed individual orders we were told this was not possible, even though no one was at the carvery and all the food was available to be served.

Their attention to detail is being lost and we feel they need to up their game to retain customers over the longer term.
