We stayed at the new Pondok Baruna Frangipani, and loved it. Huge rooms....especially the bathrooms!.The beds were very comfy, and good air-con. The pool is enormous and well maintained. No TVs, so perfect for relaxing. Breakfast is next door, but a restaurant is being built out front. Scooter hire is cheap and easy. We ate at the Pondok Baruna warung and enjoyed our meals. Staff are great...thanks Abel.

Room Tip: The two back rooms face onto a lovely yard, although they are all very good

Stayed in the seafront rooms. Was nice and clean, excellent location. Really basic with cold water and fan. If you aren't fussy this is a great place to stay. The room is really quite nice and comfortable and a decent size. Nice being right by the beach side. Friendly staff usually available to help with anything. My only gripe was the leaky ceiling.. not great in rainy season..

It's just a place to stay, nothing to shout about.

Room is rather tiny but at least there's a sort of verandah to dry clothings and gears.

Water is salty and extremely hard, and no soap or shampoo was provided. At least the room and toilet was reasonably clean, although the room and blanket smelled musty.

Airconditioning was terrible, even at the coldest setting, it barely cooled the room enough.

Power supply was iffy, 3 power outages in three days. Although to be fair, salty water and irregular power supply is a problem throughout Lembongan.

Location is fairly decent, with a good selection of Warungs (restaurants) within a ten minute walk. For the lazy, there are two warungs within two minutes from Pondok Baruna

Room Tip: For those who can take tropical weather, try the seaview fan rooms instead of garden A/C rooms. That...

We stayed here in a sea view room. Excellent when you go diving, but I would not chose to stay here when I wouldn't be diving. The noise of the diveschool will wake you up very early! The view from the room is very nice, the room with its own little veranda is nice, but the bathroom is terrible. Cold water (you can also use a thermal waterbag which lies in the sun all day in front of the room, but we didn't know that untill the end) and everything gets wet. Breakfast was okay and the swimmingpool was nice. We heared the garden rooms are much nicer, but the view isn't that great and they are more expensive. You can't swim at the beach, but renting a cheap scooter will get you anywhere!

We stayed here for 3 nights in the "garden" rooms for 450, 000 Idr per night and while the breakfast is a bit spartan, the rooms are quiet and comfortable with AC and are in a pleasant courtyard round a pool. The cheaper "seaview" rooms look a bit grim and the more expensive "frangipani" rooms, about 100 metres away in a separate location, are clearly a more luxurious option. We opted for the mid-range garden rooms and were happy with our choice. The rooms are in a quiet location, apart from cocks crowing, and the associated restaurant up the road was great food for great value. We hired a scooter from them at 50,000 Idr per day; you need transport to make the most of the islands. We went round Nusa Lembongan and Ceningan to a spectacular coastal viewpoint and the different beaches like Mushroom Bay and Dream Beach, but the surf can be a bit rough at times and the snorkelling at these places is disappointing in comparison with Mangrove Point (only accessible by boat).

The diving outfit that's associated with Pondok Baruna, World Diving, has a great reputation although, having done 4 dives with them, I wouldn't say that they offer a much better service or have better equipment than anywhere else. In fact, I dived with Bali Diving Academy 4 years ago and they were more safety conscious and customer-oriented. However, the diving is awesome; the reefs around the North of Nusa Penida, like at Toyakapeh, are in pristine condition and you have the chance to see big pelagics like Mola Mola at a few sites like Blue Corner & Crystal Bay and Mantas at Manta Point.

Overall, I'd recommend Pondok Baruna's garden rooms while you're in Nusa Lembongan, as they're good value and very comfortable and the food at the restaurant was some of the best we had all holiday. And the diving is awesome!

Was pleasantly surprised by this place in Lembongan - very cheap, large rooms, good location, fans and with access to swimming pool and cafe area. The sea view rooms are right on the beach (a little noisy in the mornings) and the pool view in a lovely courtyard. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed at the sea front and garden rooms. Sea front is a bit down market with fans only but the name says it all in terms of location. Breathtaking sunsets. Garden rooms are gorgeous, new and neat: set around the pool. It is the attached world diving centre and the staff in the place that adds the real bonus here. They are charming and friendly. Nearby they have a restaurant which is good value. Manager 'Balinese Renaldo' as he calls himself is a hoot and will go out of his way to ensure you have a great stay.
