“Worth the money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2014

I'd recommend doing the Mangrove Tour (which takes you right through the Mangrove Forest). We paid 100,000 rupiah (about $9US) and the tour lasted about 30 minutes. Mangroves were beautiful up close, and especially enjoyed the part of the tour where we went out into the ocean to look at the Mangrove Forest from that vantage point.

“Nice little boat trip”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2014

Good to break up a moped journey around the island 100,000 for a 30 min ride, you get you own boat through the mangroves and into the seaweed beds.

“Tranquil and a little eerie”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2014

We hired scooters for the day and travelled around Nusa Lemongan to get our bearings. First stop out toward the mangroves. We stopped at a little warung for a drink and noticed they did a mangrove tour by boat. Cost $5 each for 4 of us for a 40 minute ride with Captain Blaxy. The mangroves themselves are huge. The first part of the ride is very open and takes you to the sea out into seaweed farms for a short time and then back through a very narrow creek where the mangrove roots scrape the side of the boat. Quite eerie in this part as the mangroves enclose you. We saw a couple of tiny black tip reef sharks about 30 cms long and a goanna (monitor lizard) about 80 cms long. Captain Blaxy pointed out crabs and snails which the locals eat. There were numerous tiny fish which are also caught for food. We saw some beautiful blue colored birds which looked like king fishers as well. Captain Blaxy said we were lucky to have seen so much wild life especially the sharks. Captain Blaxy speaks quite good English and was happy to answer many questions. Go prepared with good insect repellant as the mozzies are numerous especially in the enclosed part of the mangroves. The boat is also propelled by pole like a gondola so be prepared to get the odd splash of dirty water on you. Well worth a look if you've never seen mangroves before plus it helps locals supplement their income from seaweed farming.
