“A slice of paradise”

I cannot speak highly enough of this place - absolutely beautiful! Stayed for 2 nights last year (not long enough) and recently returned for 6 nights. Lovely little boutique villas with new and spacious bathrooms. Two infinity pools overlooking the water with comfortable loungers and each room/villa has a verandah with sitting chairs or day beds to sit, relax and admire the view. Very peaceful.
Fantastic food at the restaurant...my favourite the huge plate of giant BBQd red tuna & vege skewers with garlic roast potatoes and greek salad...all for $6AUD. Delicious, fresh and cooked to perfection as was everything else I had. Cocktails are also brilliant and believe me I have a few in my time to compare against.
It is a little of the beaten track upon a hill with magnificent sea views. Like everywhere else on the island best to hire a scooter to explore but only a 3 minute walk down to Mushroom Beach. Many of the local cafes offer free pick up and return also - the lovely staff are more than happy to arrange.
Outstanding value for money. Highly recommended, cannot wait to return again.

Room Tip: Most do have sea views but I think perhaps two do not so best to request on booking.

Very nice I recommend it. Nice view nice rooms except for room 4 nice beach nice location except for the home stay next door and the best food! The food was excellent and the view in the morn just stunning. I have been here 6 or 7 times and they all ways satisfied me. The location is nice with all the other bays so close like mushroom bay sang bay and dream beach. Devils tear was a very nice place with the blow hole not very far away and me and my friends got soaked with nice icy cold water. the place is a nice place to stay with a family and the beach is just down the hill to the amazing white beach to the right but to the left its really mucky and the deck there at high tide you could jump of into the water. best place to stay on the island

Room Tip: Rooms 4-9 are good ones

This was my third stay in as many years. The staff are great, happy and helpful. The food is great, yes a little more expensive but you never ever get Bali Belly there. This to me is very important because who wants to get sick on a holiday. Great pools, I don't mind it's location it's a great 1/2 hour walk over the beautiful headlands to get into one of the villages. It's quiet and has great views from the rooms (higher up but further from the pools), the pool and restaurant area.

Yes the can't bring anything in from anywhere else rule is ridiculous and I just ignore it like everybody else.

Well done to the staff again.

Room Tip: Go for the rooms with ocean views.

Pandana Guest House is set on a property which overlooks a beautiful bay. The view from any of the rooms is magnificent. On a good day, of which there are many, you can see the awesome Mt Agung (a dormant volcano on mainland Bali). The short walk down to the bay takes you through some rustic areas, seeing local people going about their everyday life. Everyone is friendly and their smiles light one up.
Pandana has two well-kept swimming pools. One of which is shaded by a luxuriant passion fruit vine. Delicious breakfasts are served overlooking one of the pools.
The biggest attraction at Pandana is their wonderful staff. Service is always with a genuine smile and a friendly chat. Staff members have a great sense of humour and genuinely care for their guests.
Lunch and evening meals are available and are delicious and varied. They are well priced.
We have just returned from our third trip to Lembongan and have always stayed at Pandana when we visited there.
We are hoping to return there again in April to provide a yoga retreat. It is the perfect place to run such a retreat: grassed areas near the pools; quiet location away from the main settlement but close enough to do a gentle walk there and enjoy a change of scenery; a short walk to the tranquil waters of Tamerind Bay; a walk or swim away from Mushroom Bay.... And the list could go on and on!
Great for a getaway from busy Kuta.

We have been to Lembongan before and much of SE Asia and find some things tend to be universal, smiling Balinese being one of them. Breakfast included, often minimal and occasionally inedible is another. Both these things were lacking at Pandana. However the view was lovely and the room pleasant enough, we booked via Agoda and all was fine with the booking and reservation. The pools are nice and clean and the grounds are pretty. It is quite a long way from town so you will need to consider this for your needs when booking, if you want to get out and are not comfortable on a scooter book somewhere else. If you are happy with hiring bikes we hired from Pandana at 70000rp which I think was a bit inflated but ok. For a family I would go somewhere a bit closer to the action. You can get picked up by a few of the local restaurants as well but you are in a high, quite remote section of Lembongan and the walk is steep and dark.

The greeting at Pandana was perfunctory rather than unpleasant and we were given a brief 'here is the toilet' style tour. As another reviewer pointed out there was a mandate that no outside drink or food be consumed (we ignored this), the restaurant was quite steeply priced and the book in the room stated that if you wanted to use the air con it would be another $15AUD a night. Overall there is a feeling that you are really just a funding source rather than a guest. On our last night the staff told us they were walking off en masse the next day and asked us to settle up the motorbikes etc, however they were hanging in there the next day so who knows....

On the whole I would probably stay at Mushroom Bay next time for convenience and ambiance.

I would love to keep this special place a secret, so I can allow my friends and family to enjoy this little piece of paradise, however if this would occur the place would not function. This is our 4 th visit and it just gets better. Widi and Nyoman are fabulous hosts. Nothing is a problem. They are very knowledgeable and efficient in their running of the property. The girls and boys in the kitchen produce very high quality food and quickly. It amazes me the variety of what they can produce and the high standard and the timing from such a small space. It is great to have a la carte breakfast included with interesting choices of fried green tomatoes, chorizo and the chili and garlic scrambled eggs.
Rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable. The two infinity pools are well maintained and the views are amazing.
Perfect place to stay with friends and families. We shall be back!

Room Tip: Family rooms are suitable to sleep 5. Fish 1,2 &3 can sleep 3.

We did not enjoy our stay at Pandana Guesthouse. But to be fair, let's start with the positives:
* The bungalows are spacious and have modern bathrooms.
* The view is nice.
* The bottom pool is pretty good as well.
But the place has a number of problems:
* The location is extremely remote. If you are not comfortable either riding a scooter or confining yourself to mediocre Tamarind Beach, do not book this place as you will feel utterly trapped.
* The staff were very unfriendly and unprofessional. We had been in contact with the menager, Chris, beforehand and explicitely asked for bungalow number 1 in order not to be too close to the pool and have more privacy. When we arrived, staff wanted to move us up to a bungalow next to the pool and tried to guilt-trip us into staying at a bungalow different from the one we booked. ("But then the people in bungalow 1 will have to move..." - rolling eyes).
No smile for a welcome, no one asked if they could help us with the bags - and it is quite a steep climb to Pandana from the little road, which is then followed by a bunch of stairs.
* The place has no proper reception. As we arrived at around 11:30 am, we knew we would have some time to kill since check-in time was 2 pm, which is fine. However, staff suggested we leave our bags next to a tree near the downstairs pool - unsheltered from sun and rain and basically up for grabs to whomever wanted to grab them. With a laptop inside the bag, that sucked so I had to carry all bags upstairs to the restaurant. Again - no help here. Arrived at the restaurant, we received an OJ as a welcome drink - again without a smile. And so we sat there and tried to enjoy the view with "Modern Talking" and other 80s/90s Euro-Trash music blaring from the speakers, while the staff was staring at us aggressively, as they were obviously still pissed that we wanted to stay in the bungalow we had booked and paid for. How dare we, right?
* No manager on site. Chris, the guy who had done the booking, seemed nice enough and could also be reached by phone, but was not at Pandana during our 24 hour stay. When we cancelled our second and third night, he apologized, but didn't enquire further as to the reasons. He seemed content with us paying for a night we didn't actually stay and that was that. No manager on site might have also been the reason for the staff's poor performance, who knows...
* The whole place is stingy and geared to making the owners money, not the guests feel comfortable. Examples: No outside food or drinks allowed in Pandana. This is a first for me in a Guesthouse and I have stayed at bungalows over and over again in Southeast Asia. Add to this the remote location and you are forced to buy from the hotel, who charge 7k for a small half-litre water bottle (1,5 l is 4,500 Rp. in the store) and 22k for a small Bintang. Next example: They do not provide shower cream or shampoo. For 95 AUSD a night that is pretty weak. Next example: No TV in the rooms. Next one: A card requesting guests to shower for only 3 minutes to "save the environment". Next example: The portion sizes of the food at the restaurant. And the list goes on and on.
* Security sucks. After the bags had been put into our bungalow while we were out and about to spend sometime before check-in, the door was not locked. Instead, the key was put in from the outside. Given that bungalow 1 is close to the entrance, again our bags were pretty much fair game. Also, the lock of bungalow 1 did not work properly. I had to make sure the second door was locked to the ground (which it was not), as otherwise despite locking the room with the key you could just push it open.
* The bed was creaky, short and uncomfortable.
* The noise level. We could here every word of our neighbors, both from the other Pandana bungalows as well as from the neighboring Guesthouse.

We had booked for three nights, paid for two and stayed one. Unless sitting in a remote place and being overcharged by greedy owners is your idea of fun, I would recommend avoiding this place altogether. Worst night of our honeymoon.
