“exellent stay at ketut”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

my wife and i stayed at ketut losmen and absolutley loved it . yes it can be a bit rough and ready but we found it clean and tidy well kept pool and surrounds superb with amazing setting on the beach. We stayed in front bottom room and loved it
plenty of places to eat close to resort and never had a bad meal . when tide went out and the seaweed farmers appeared it added to the charm and you can sit and watch with a relaxing large bintang it is fantastic
the staff where fantastic and looked after us great .we will be back

This property has two twin facilities. One is the Ketut Hotel and the other is the Star Two Thousand Hotel. Both share pool and common areas. I stayed in Star two Thousand and it was the all time low of a three month trip in its budget category. Old and smelly room, bathroom not working well, slow fan, no room cleaning service, old towels, annoying manager, staff always looking depressed and bored, bar and food subpar. Much better options all around in its category, left after the first night.

What you paid in this place is the nice swimming pool and the front beach location, it has a beautiful and well-maintained garden as well, but the room is ugly, it is very old fashion and it doesn’t look clean at all (the carpet is disgusting). In my toilet, the flushing system wasn’t working so I had to manage with a bucket filled with water. There is a mosquito net covering a large area (instead of wall) but it has holes so I got many insects coming into my room. The walls are very thin so I got all the noises around. I could hear downstairs and next-door conversations as if they were in my room. In addition a construction is going on since early in the morning till around 10 pm. The bed was comfortable. No aircon, only a fan which wasn't laud. I stayed in a second floor room 4A, they have some others closer to the beach, and maybe those ones are better. In general the staff was pretty lazy and not very friendly (by comparison with Bungalow 7, where I stayed before).

The breakfast wasn’t included but I could get it in the restaurant next door. If you want more value for money you need to walk through the garden, then at the end turn left and you will see a narrow street, continue till the end and you will have at least 2 very close options (you will see a place just opposite the street and another one at your right), without beach views of course… but still nice. If you are looking for some groceries, drinks, or even snorkeling go to a place called Reefer Run, you will see it at your left as soon as you get to this second line street.

Room Tip: There is a brand new hotel just behind Ketut Losmen, they don’t have swimming pool which I think cou...

We've stayed here twice, with a gap of about 2 years. Rooms are always clean and beds extremely comfy, with views of surf if you're in the first few. Great location at this end of the beach, quiet and less hassle. Nice staff, happy place. Awesome warung called Ketuts Thai Food - gorgeous family run, freshly cooked and just round the corner.

We had room 3B with a fan and hot water.
Ketut has his own website with good descriptions and prices for each room.
Reasonable, slightly tatty room with the biggest bed I have ever seen - it must have been 8' wide. We were given 2 clean but old sheets to make up the bed with and of course they were not big enough to go over the edges of the mattress, but big enough for us to sleep on.
Old tatty bathroom but good hot shower and even hot water to the sink.
No wardrobe but a big dressing table unit with shelves and mirror. No locking cupboards and just a small padlock on the front door but it does feel quiet and safe here.
They don't clean your room or make your bed but I think he said you would get clean sheets and towels every three days. We only stayed for 2 nights.
Nice terrace with 2 rocking chairs and a table.
No restaurant and no breakfast but lots of homestays here seem to do this.
All the restaurants serve breakfast, the ones along the road are much cheaper than the sea-front ones (as you would expect). We went up the little track to the road and opposite to Warung Nyoman, good cheap breakfast there.
You cannot swim at low tide as the sea goes out for about half a mile and there are seaweed farms all over the sand.
So you really need the small swimming pool which Ketut has. There are several sun-loungers there too.

There's no wi-fi but there is free wi-fi at his brothers place 2000 next door.
Once you've bought a bintang at happy hour and got the password you can use it for your stay and ours worked on our terrace.

We went snorkelling with the guy who runs the shop at the top of the track to the road, left along the road about 20 metres. He has a boat called "Reef Run" with a big picture of it outside the shop - got a good price and went to three sites with just the 4 of us. He even brought bread to feed the fish and bananas and cakes for us. Went to his shop to buy water and ice-creams too.

Room Tip: Not as much sea breeze to cool us as we thought, I would go for an aircon room if you can. If you go...

Ketut Losmen Bungalows..good outlook,2nd upstairs bungalow,a little dissapointing for the cost.450,000 or $50.00..There's no restaurant which meens no breakfast.Cold water shower only in that bungalow.Thin bamboo walls which equates to plenty of smoke in room from plastic bottles and rubbish being burnt almost everywhere.Fan only, not real effective on still nights.Noisy dogs and construction site nxt door.Plenty of room for improvement..Best thing.Local Made, that drives the yellow boat out to shipwrecks...

Room Tip: ask for one down stairs..

My wife and I stayed for 1 week here and found the staff at ketuts to be great...
However the guy who runs the travel business from star 2000 bungalows made our stay a little less pleasant as he was such a creepy, pushy bugger!!!
He would basically hound whoever was new at either place and basically just make you feel really uncomfortable!
We did (STUPIDLY!!!) organise a boat to kusamba through this guy thinking...oh its only a boat, surely it cant be that hard to stuff up!!! ha...wrong!
He crammed 10 of us and a 1 year old little girl onto a local sail boat and pretty much laughed at us all as we were sailing out into the strait!
I really hope somebody fixes this guy up as he is a horrible guy!

Otherwise ketuts is great!

Room Tip: Barter hard, be prepared to walk away
