The caves are nice, but other than that it is just a forest with trees. We did see a few monkeys and had a nice hike, but not so special that you would have to pay for it. The beach with the stranded ship was cool, but I think you can access that part for free.

Take a morning walk. You'll pick up a cheap guide in one of the local restaurants. There are lots of magnificent views, plus including deer, large lizards, Japanese fortifications, ship wreck, waterfalls, hidden coves, caves and of course the jungle forest. Easy walking, take your togs for a cool of swim at a cove. Great value.

This pleasant national park located right on the edge of the town has native Javanese deer and monkeys galore.

Foreign tourists are expected to pay more than Indonesians, which is consistent with most tourist destinations in Indonesia.

There are a number of caves and sites in the park that can be reached on foot. Bring water.

We walked around for over 3 hours. Most caves have explanations in Indonesian, if you can read it.

The monkeys in the park are quite brazen. Do not eat in front of them. As we were leaving, I had to give first aid to an Indonesian girl who had been badly bitten by a monkey in the car park and was needing to attend hospital for sutures.

There is a white sand shell beach in the park where you can swim, if you wish.

As with most tourist destinations in Indonesia, the litter is disappointing and reduces the experience. If someone could educate wholesale on the importance of disposing of rubbish responsibly, this park and the country would be better for it.

There are offers to be dropped in the park illegally, which will save you money, and ensure the local municipality has no funds for maintaining parks like this. Be responsible and pay to go in.

Likewise, be responsible tourist and don't feed the animals in the park - and discourage your guide. It is ridiculous to encourage behaviour like this. The animals are willing to approach humans without enticement of food, and feeding them leads to them chasing people or children. This was the cause of the monkey bite I treated.

All in all, the bat cave and beach are worth the effort, if you have a spare day in pandangaran.

You must visit this place by boat if you go to pangandaran because in east beach you can't play in the beach. Why? Because there is no sandy beach in east beach only rocky beach. So just pay IDR25.000 for the boat and they will take you to sea garden where you can see fishes in the sea and they will take you to white sand beach

We booked a two hour walking tour through the National Park with our very nice guide Harimat (phone/whatsapp: +6281395275156). He showed us the natural caves in the park (we even got to see the porcupines) and helped us get close to the apes. Then he took us over forest paths to the "top of the jungle", where we got to see tucans. It was an amazibg afternoon, and I think it was only possible because we had such a good guide. The tour went a lot longer than planned because there was so much to see, without us having to pay more. Thank you Harimat!

Pangandaran has a surprising number of animals. If you're in luck and you have a good guide, you can see quite a few if you start walking at twilight. Our walk started at 5. We saw the deer on the street (where they like to hang out) and at the entrance to the park. Our guide had brought banana chips which we fed to the deer. Then we went to a cave and heard weird noises in the dark. They were coming from some porcupines who live there. They got banana chips too. We saw a flying squirrel, though it was difficult to see it in action. Then our guide called and a troupe of macaques appeared. More banana chips. As the light faded we saw a lot of flying foxes soaring high overhead. Then we saw another flying squirrel and contemplated a boat that the government had deliberately sunk and placed there as a warning to anyone who tried to fish in their waters illegally. Perhaps the highlight was seeing a mongoose. Wow.

We did a tour to the green canyon. It was organised by Intrepid tour group so I didn't organise it myself locally. The green canyon is well worth a trip, it was fantastic! It's a short boat ride (under 30 mins) and you arrive at the point where you get out of the boat and swim. The water was so blue and clean it was gorgeous. Well worth it!

We had a guide who knew about animals so we saw porcupines, bats, deer, grass hoppers, lizards and tukans but we did not walk enough inside the buffalo or the scorpion. We have seen better national parks in Indonesia but good for a first time trip and easy to walk for kids too.

We're bringing our toddler there, he's abit scare at first but the tour guide was very nice, he encourage our son even he carry him. The ticket are abit pricy if the group're under 5 people, uve better gather max 5 people. But overall we enjoy our trip there.
