“Not a bad hotel for the price!”
Reviewed September 11, 2009

I was wary of this hotel as it is adjacent to a metro stop and across the street from the backside of the Gare du Midi station. However, since we arrived on Eurostar late and were leaving early, we took a chance. I was pleasantly surprised! The area outside the hotel had the usual railway station characters, and the pavement construction out front did not help the kerb appeal. However, inside was a clean and comfortable hotel!

I was in room 522 and found nice wood floors, new king bed and cozy bedding, and plenty of space. Bathroom was a little small, but had a good sized corner shower. There was an air conditioner in the room that worked very, very well, which was good as it was 27C while we were there! Bath towles were not as fluffy as I like, but they did the job. My only real complaint about the room was the drapes- these needed to be re-hung and/or replaced. I got them closed well enough, but they drug down the whole look of the room.

Internet access is not free, but use the wired option and you will have a very fast and smooth connection. My colleague used the Wifi and found it jumpy. Cost is same on either: 10 EUR for 24 hour continuous or 15 EUR for 10 hours accumulated. TV was the usual small Ibis model, but had lots of channels (albeit few in English!). Remember to turn off your pop up blocker or else you cannot log out of the wired version properly.

Front desk staff were fine- cannot comment on the breakfast as we felt it too expensive at 14 EUR each, so we got food in the station each morning. We got the room on an advanced payment, non-refundable for less than 70 EUR per night, cheap and cheerful! A note to light sleepers! If your room faces the street you are likely to be quite bothered by the noise. I sleep with earplugs so had no problem, but the hotel is on the corner of a large, main road, so there is traffic all night.

If that noise issue didn't scare you off, the hotel can be accessed over the road (dodgy way, given the construction) or exit the metro station via Exit 7 which pops up alongside the hotel.

I would stay here again- the hotel did its job for me at a fair price and a convenient location.

The staff were very welcoming, pleasant and helpful - they made a ham-free croque monsieur for my vegetarian friend even though it was quite late and the kitchen was just about to close. The location of this hotel isn't great - on the one hand, it's very near a train station and metro stop, but the neighbourhood itself is quite bad - I was assaulted by a homeless man just down the street! The rooms are clean and the shower was good, though there was a bit of noise in the mornings due to the construction sites across the street. Good hotel but bad location.

Location, Location, Location. Across the street from Brussels' main train station, Gare du Midi, this Ibis chain hotel makes life easy if you're lugging suitcases. However, like in most cities, being located next to a train station is not usually the most beautiful, clean or calm experience. This Ibis, while inexpensive, was worn around the edges and frayed from the high volume of use. They tried hard: the staff was friendly and professional, the restaurant was full and busy and the corporate standards of an international chain, Ibis, ensures that this hotel maintains more than a miminim level of cleanliness, comfort and organization. But not much more.
Most dissapointing aspects included the rough bed linens which neither felt comfortable nor particularly clean. The bathroom was appointed cheaply. The room was not small, but the carpeting and furniture all looked like it was from a sale at budget Conforama.
Staff was professional. Food at the hotel restaurant was respectable... maybe even above average.
A cheap option to rest/drop-bags when required by your train travel. But certainly not a worthy option from which to enjoy Brussels.

Get off the Eurostar, turn right at the end of the platform, walk to the station exit and you will see the Ibis opposite and just to the left. You can be in bed within 15 mins of getting off a late train. Usual Ibis decor, modern and clean. Breakfast is a good buffet but very pricey at 16 Euros. The area round the station is very rough and you would not want to walk round after dark. But overall, very convenient for an overnight stop en route to somewhere else.

We had to stayed there for 1 night and lived very bad experiment.
When we arrived this hotel, it was over 2 am and they required 145 EUR for only 5 hours eventhough 117 EUR was on the promotion sign on front side of the the hotel.
Other hand, no soap, shompoo or towels at the room. I quess, it was just left by another quest.

I stayed at this hotel in November 2008. The room is comfortable low budget type. The surrounding area is horrible, but it is good if you need to get to the station quickly. The station is about 50 m from the hotel. Services are not anything special. wifi internet is not free, but one can get an access for 10 EUR for 24h. I had a non-smoking room in a non-smoking floor, but I smelled the smoke all the time. The hotel stuff just ignores the fact that some guests were smoking in their non-smoking rooms. Be prepared for a mindless westeuropean teenagers who accommodate here.
Rooms are clean, though, bathroom nice with a glass door shower place.
