“You must stay here”
Reviewed December 23, 2011

Just a wonderful place to return to at the end of the day--especially with a decadent bathtub during the cold winter months! Loved the room and decor, room was nice and quiet at night, breakfast was great, owners were welcoming and helpful with our questions. Convenient to the bus/tram/metro and Midi train station; the neighborhood around Midi is "in transition" but not bad (evidence of car break-ins but never felt threatened walking to/from). I also thought this location was perfect for exploring the Louise/Ixelles areas to the south of the city as well. Especially considering the high price of chain hotels in town, I just thought this was a fabulous deal (includes free breakfast and wifi). We usually stay in apartment rentals so if you require room service or concierge this may not be the place for you. But if you are at all independent I urge you to consider this place. Fabulous.

Room Tip: We had the "black and white" room facing the back. Perhaps rooms with window onto the fro...

Booked this hotel for a competition winner and her sister, just heard from her, she had a fabulous time at the hotel, and said it was amazing, breakfast was lovely, everything about the hotel was fantastic.

Charming and historical, this is a wonderful, luxurious B&B, and the owner is a very helpful and nice lady. It was a unique experience.

This hotel feels more like an apartment than a hotel. From the service and the decor, it was one of our favorite hotels on our trip. The building is beautiful and the room is spacious. The breakfast is a traditional European style with meats and cheeses, very delicious (and included in the room!) I would recommend this hotel to anyone I know traveling in Brussels!

Take your time to find this hotel, as is typical of Belgium street names and one way systems, you'll need to be patient and tenacious. You'll find the smallest of hotel signage on the front doors, but go inside and you'll be treated to a charming and unique establishment. Like other reviewers, we had the orange room. Excellent in how it is equipped for like for like standards of hotel accommodation and being on the rear of the building is quiet and shielded from Brussels' sirens and street noise. A large double room tastefully decorated in a modern urban style. Comfortable king size bed. Breakfasts were of a high standard of quality of food, even if the choice is limited to Continental breakfast, although Frederique was charming as our host. You'll be staring all around at the plasterwork and decoration. We would stay there again - which I guess is what defines a successful choice of accommodation.

Room Tip: Wheelchair bound travellers will have difficulty accessing this hotel, as steps and the very narrow...

I stayed in Brussels for a conference and chose Maison AZ as I was alone and wanted to have the feeling of a secure haven to return to at night. It is a beautiful place, artistically renovated with so much touch and feeling you feel you moved into a decorators magazine. My room was spacious and had plenty of space for me and my yoga mat in the morning. The Bathroom was nearly the same size as the bedroom. I could choose between having a bath and a shower. Breakfast was very nice in a beautiful breakfast room. Time magazine and Financial Times were options to read while eating. The owners recommended a nice restaurant nearby and they were very helpful otherwise with advice on tram, renting a bike etc. I went running in a nice park nearby. My only problem was loud traffic in the morning - being at the 1st floor. Ask for a room higher up and you will not have the problem.

I also stayed, just like the previous reviewer, in the Orange room: it's spacious with an open bathroom with seperated shower and bath. Bring your own shampoo and soap.

Very friendly owners. Breakfast was nice: some fruit, yoghurt, cereals, croissants and fresh orange juice.

The neighborhood is a bit grimm, but I was pointed towards 'Bar a Gilles', which served nice wines and food.

Room Tip: the Orange room is on the quiet side
