Description: Blue Elephant Thai restaurant just south of Brussels City was the first of the celebrated group that may eventually take over the world -- to general applause. This is a chic Thai fantasy, an Eden of exotic flora to take you far from the busy metropolis outside. During the day the stunningly-appointed dining room is naturally lit from the skylight above, while in the evening candles and lamps take over. It is lushly decorated with exotic plants, beautiful orchids, Buddhas, Thai woodwork, comfy bamboo chairs, and smiling Thai-costumed waitstaff.

It is simply the best.
Just go and try all the others, but always you will come back here and remember your visit. It is not to be beaten!
Fantastic interior and tasteful dishes so well presented!
On sundays there's a buffet for those who like such concept, but essentially the restaurant is best for its unique serving at your table.

Truth is that after having travelled to Bangkok less than one year ago and having had delicious (and cheap) street food, our expectations were simply too high, also because it's renowned as one of the best Thai restaurants in Brussels. The décor is quite appealing - wood and bamboo palms everywhere, golden cutlery, etc. Entrées are served exquisitely decorated on banana leaves, with flower shaped carrots, bush shaped lettuce and the like. The food was quite decent (we had fish cakes, sarika, grilled sea bass, pad thai), well prepared and served at adequate pace. But the service was somehow far from what we would expect in this type of restaurant and for the price we were paying. It was not a matter of being impolite, they were simply not caring about us or if we were enjoying our meal. However we took home a white sunshine orchid as a gift and the pad thai was better than the one we make at home, so in the end we were happy!
They have private parking, but there's no not much space to manoeuvre.

Having lived in Thailand for several years I started to try out different Thai restaurants when I arrived in Brussels. I always come back to the Blue Elephant, especially for their brunch on Sundays. The food is fantastic and authentic, the service quick and friendly and the price correct. The only draw-back during the brunch is that it can be a bit crowded sometimes.

They call it a breakfast buffet, but it's from noon to 3pm, and the foods on offer are more lunch or dinner foods. Consists of four tables of different sorts of foods: a soup station where you tell the server what you want in your broth (selection of veg, meats, etc.); a table of hot main courses of mixed veg, meats etc; a table of more simple dishes with sauces on the side, like spring rolls and satay; and lastly the desert table with bowls of local and Thai fruits, some Thai deserts, and some european deserts. The welcome is always warm, there is parking across the street, and the decor is lovely, enhanced by beautiful exotic flowers and carved fruits.

Certsinly it is more 'authentic' than ordinary Thai eateries. However, there are some other Thai restaurants in Brussels with much better quality at more reasonable prices. Service is nice but a lityle bit too pushy when it comes to consumption. It takes ages to get your meal...
