“A fabulous find”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

If you are going to the Draa Valley, Nasser, Sylvie and their extraordinary staff make this a definite place to stay. In fact, we stayed 3 nights, using the Kasbah as a mini-retreat from tourism -- doing short daily outings, combined with lots of time around the gorgeous pool. We ate here every night and did not once regret it -- beautiful food. The rooms are comfortable, and the two downstairs rooms have small terraces (though are a bit more prone to the sounds of other guests coming and going). Your hosts will fill you in on local restoration efforts, and are deeply embedded in the community -- opening up lots of doors for us to come to know this beautiful part of the country. You will definitely feel pampered and cared for at Kasbah Azul.

We stayed here on our return from the desert and found it comfortable and refreshing. It overlooks the palmarie of the village ; you can watch the locals coming back and forward from the fields. The room was comfortable and the setting peaceful and calm. The swimming pool was clean and bracingly cold after the long, hot journey . Dinner and breakfast were served on the terrace by the pool. Dinner was a classy selection of salads, then braised chicken and finally an apple crumble with ice cream. We enjoyed the wine and watching the bats swoop above the pool. Service was genial and efficient. Would recommend.

It's rather "off the beaten track" which, for us, was a great plus.Once you manage to find it you
won't be disappointed. The staff are very helpful and friendly .The surroundings are exotic and
the facilities of the hotel are great. There is a nice swimming pool and lovely gardens. The evening
meal was served in a beautiful setting. Our room was very tastefully furnished and comfortable.
Highly recommended.

The last part of the road to get here is a bit of a challange. It is a narrow dirt road besides the old kasbah, but once inside it looks like an oasis. Spacious rooms, a swimming pool, comfortable sitting area's and all within view distance of the kasbah. The property has a very nice garden around it (which we made little use of) and the owners are very friendly. Recommended !!

During our one-week trip through Marocco, we´ve been in few very nice Kasbah´s and Ksar´s, but the Kasbah Azul was definitely the nicest location at all.
Not quiete simply to find (only 50 meters away, we thought, we are completely wrong), but once arrived there, it was simply a big WOW!
Very neat garden, a lot of tasteful details and accessoires in and around the house, perfect rooms and a very tasteful diner have been completed by a very courteous and friendly staff.
No question: if we will be in that area again, we will definitely stay in Kasbah Azul once more.

The location to start with is heaven on earth... Infinite Oasis a festival of colors...

The cuisine reflects the variety of the Morocco cuisine with respect to the traditions. However if you let the lady of the house share her innovations with you you will discover some innovations that you could never suspect. Remember to ask for Chicken Tajine with Oranges, Dates ice cream, or dates Jam...

If you wanna know more about the history of the region, spend some time with Nasser... He will be glad to tell you about the stories of his ancestors and the Kasbah s they built. This guy is passionateabout about every detail.

I really don't wanna leave this place... Unfortunately it's fully booked for tonight.

Remember to book way in advance!

If you are looking for somewhere to relax… Of the five places where we stayed during a road trip around eastern Morocco, this was our favourite by a mile.

Kasbah Azul is round the back of an ancient and mainly deserted fortified village. You enter through green gates in the mud wall; here there's space for parking cars, much of it covered. Then you walk through an arch of roses and along a gently winding path up to the main house.

Built within a still-producing date orchard, the gardens range around a beautiful swimming pool with attractive seating areas, a fountain, and lots of nooks and crannies. A donkey lives near the car park.

What stood out in particular was the serenity of the place – the gardens, the pool, and Kasbah Azul’s unfussy style. There is lots of colour and space. Although we are vegetarian, delicious and inventive dinners appeared each night. Breakfast by the pool is a treat.

Our room was well equipped, had plenty of daylight, a large-size shower, and a decent amount of electric sockets for charging cameras etc.

We drove away feeling thoroughly refreshed, and wished we had booked to stay longer than two nights.
