Description: There's a warm welcome waiting for you at The Railway Inn, Framlingham. Redecorated by the new owners, Barry and Liz Jones, this is a truly traditional English Pub with a large front bar which boasts bar stools, bar seating area and dining tables, not to mention the best seats in the house, two Edwardian wingbacks in front of the real open fire. The railway also has it's very own snug bar, for quiet dining and private conversation, you'll love the warm and cosy atmosphere. Add to these bars the sports bar, with Pool, Darts and SKY Sports on the big screen, the Railway has it all! Barry, owner and Chef, provides truly gorgeous food at exceptional prices to make your tum and pocket happy. Lovely gardens out back for the summertime and paved area to the side which is a real suntrap.

“The right way to revamp a pub!”
Reviewed February 12, 2014 via mobile

Came to the Railway Inn for a few afternoon drinks just after Christmas as I'd heard it had a major revamp. Like many 'dyed in the wool' pubs which have struggled in recent years due to smoking bans, changes in pub drinking culture etc, the Railway Inn was just another pub which for years just wasn't very appealing. Sure, some pubs can be scruffy, & very characterful ( The Vic, Earl Soham, Low House, Laxfield) but others such as The Badingham White Horse ( now closed but soon to reopen) were just plain miserable.

Anyway so having been a few weeks earlier popped in to the Railway for Sunday lunch & was very pleased. Had a delicious lamb curry which was unique & very well presented ( see pic). Staff were very helpful & pleasant & it was a very relaxing experience reading the Sunday papers! Not particularly busy ( which was a relief for me!) but I'm sure it will be in weeks to come. Really like what's been achieved here will & definitely be back soon.
