We had a lovely stay at The Crown - The Hotel is in a lovely village with the Castle and Church just a short walk away. The hotel itself is the cleanest I have ever been in. Our room was large, airy and very comfortable. The staff were all very helpful and eager to please. The restaurant was super - our evening meal and breakfast were first class.

Beautiful location with the castle just up the road and a few lovely shops.
We stayed in room 8 with the four poster bed and old furniture. For the money the room was lovely and it is the biggest in the hotel.
The service was good and we would be happy to eat there all the time as the food was perfect.
We look forward to going back soon.

We recently stayed at The Crown on a Saturday night. This hotel is really very good, with lots of character and a wonderful ambience. The staff are well trained and seem eager to please. The (new) owners are hands-on and seem to be doing a really good job in managing the hotel. However, the rooms all overlook either the courtyard or the street and in summer, there dont appear to be any quiet rooms. Although we had requested a quiet room, even the quietest was really noisy. I dont know if this is unique to a weekend, but certainly it made a very pleasnat stay very frustrating. The management offered to allow us to sleep in another room, as we had revellers outside our window on the street. I suspect its more important for the hotel to please their drinking guests than their rooming guests so this problem wont go away. Besdies this issue, it was a great stay ,

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room but beware noise on weekends

Thank you for the review, I take take on board all of your comments and I am pleased that you had a great stay. We are a former coaching inn, which maintains the public bar and we do have a good local trade. People do enjoy the opportunity to be outside, when weather permits, that said the outside areas are closed at 11.00p.m. - I appreciate that if you have travelled half way around the world and need to sleep early then 11.00pm is quite late. I can assure you that locals are no more important than staying guests, but we do have both. I am grateful for your comments and hope that you might come and stay with us again.

We stopped here for lunch, and had wonderful fresh and well-prepared food with good service in the light and airy restaurant. The menu was balanced and good value. I would highly recommend eating here, and will definitely return.

Just a quick review as we only stopped for a morning coffee but just had to say how helpful and attentive the young lady on the reception desk was. The coffee was good too! Having had a little nosey round I would defintely return for a stay.
