Very good audio guide around an interesting castle with great high walk round ramparts. Usual helpful English Heritage team, restoration seems sympathetic.

My friend and I visited the castle last Wednesday afternoon. We were very lucky with the weather it was a beautiful day. The views from the ramparts are fantastic and as someone with a disability I found everyone very helpful.

Visit to this castle as I lost the vote, I wanted to go shopping
But on arrival , I’m glad I did
What a surprise, it was really well preserved.
Inside we were able to do a wall walk with around 13 turrets
We took the audio tour which was very informative, who knew the castle was so important back in the day. We were able to walk around the castle too
It was so interesting we decided to go to Orford and Bungay castle the same day.

As members of English Heritage we wanted to see the Castle. We appreciated that it was a ruin but so much is intact that it generates much interest. The day was fine and we spent most of the day in the grounds with a guided tour and a curtain wall walk. Also exploring the surrounding ditch and views over the river.
The associations with royalty and the connections the Howard family were most interesting as is the original helmet preserved in the parish church.
A place well worth a visit.

Went with friends. Never been before. Found the experience very interesting. Didn’t realise how important the castle was. Really was good to here the hotel through the handsets.
