Use the sound system to talk you around the castle. One setting is more factual whilst the other is quite funny. The views from the top of the castle are amazing. This is a favorite visiting place for me. Look out when they have displays or shows on in the grounds. Little England at it's best

“Incredible views!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013 via mobile

I went here for my birthday and took my camera. I am so glad I did. What a great place. Framingham town is a short walk down the hill and in the market place there is a few nice shops, a little market and a tea room which does great cake!
Parking at the castle is available and then a short walk up to the castle leads to an amazing huge courtyard. There is a small museum bit and the workhouse but the best bit for me was the views at the top. You can walk around the whole of the castle and the views on a clear day go on for miles. The steps are steep and there are quite a few so it wouldn't be good for people unsteady on their feet or with dodgy hips or knees maybe, but if you are fit then get up those steps!
Amazing pictures can be had and if its a nice day you can sit on the grass and have yourself a bit of a picnic. There is a small 'tea hut' but it wasn't that great- there is a shop there for the obligatory souvenir. Interesting place and would go again just for the views more than anything. For all ages really- oh I loved the giant chess set too :-)

“Family Favourite”

WE always enjoy a visit to Framlingham Castle, it has lots of information and if you visit on one of their re-enactment days it really brings history alive, especially good for families with children.

For anybody interested in Medieval English history - a valuable experience. Wonderful views from the castle walls, and the kind of experience that enhances one's understanding of what it must have been like to have lived in a castle in those days. Child friendly, but hold on to their hand!

“The perfect English town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013

Framingham was a really pleasant summers day out. The castle itself has fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. We spent 2 hours in and around the castle and then went to the castle inn for lunch which was very pleasant. If you are a little cheeky you can walk up to Framlingham College which sits across from the castle. Since it was Sunday during term time, no one seemed to mind us walking around the grounds, we even had a peek inside which was very impressive. The chapel there has a memorial to the fallen of the college from the two world wars which to our surprise included three Victoria Crosses (which were on display)! We then walked back into town and had refreshments in the Crown which you will find in market square. Altogether a great day out.
