“A bad night out”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013

Disappointing night out - specific table reserved had been given to other people with bar staff not bothered - poor customer service indeed - beef casserole meal was bland and could not eat - not pleasant at all - didn't want to complain and spoil a night out with special fiends but will never go again !

“A warm and inviting atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2013

Ivisited the Whittington on Thursday 7th of Feb so it wasn't overly busy, There were 8 of us in our party, and despite being a little apprehensive after reading several negative reviews I have to say that we were all very impressed with both the food and the service. While the menu isn't particularly adventurous, the fare on offer is perfectly acceptable considering the reasonable price. Not feeling especially hungry myself I settled for a baked potato with various trimmings; it fitted the bill and was lovely. We were all happy, and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening; we were able to take our time, there was no rush. I would certainly go back.

“A must visit to the whittington inn”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2013

We had booked Sunday lunch at the whittington inn for a family occasion, as we arrived we were polity told barman that unfortunately there was no ale on due to problems with the delivery and was given the option if we wanted to stay due to the ale issue, although a couple of members of our party enjoy a good ale or two which at the whittington it is a very good ale and very well looked after, we decided to stay as the manor of all staff were very polite and havent been anywhere else for a long time where they were so friendly to each and every table that was dinning at the whittington. We sat down and they also advised that they were low on stock due to a new menu change on 6th February, i thought this was really good as they advised of only a few items that had run out. We did in fact opt for there Sunday roast. We ordered all beef dinners and although the pub was very very busy and the staff working very hard and communicating with each other every minute making sure everything was going right (it is with great pleasure to see a Restaurant busy like this as it shows how good the food is). Our meals arrived and they smelt amazing and we were tucked straight into it. The beef melted into our mouths, i must say it was one of the best sunday lunchs i have eaten in a Restaurant in a very long time, a very pleasant waitress came over and asked if everything was ok, which is great to see as this does not happen that often when dining. As we finished our meals the waitress came over to clear out table the service was A class and i would RECOMMEND dining at the whittington inn due to the pleasantness of the staff and the service from the moment we stepped into the whittington to the moment we walked out. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR A VERY ENJOYABLE MEAL. Also i would like to say PLEASE do not listen to what has been said as there are alot of moaning people who want to have a RITZ Meal for the cost of the excellent meal at the whittington inn.

“Sunday Lunch for 6 people”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

We booked Sunday lunch as a 50th birthday party. The 1st problem was that they had no beer whatsoever the bar staff said the lorry did not come but we have larger!. The wine we chose from the wine list they did not have so we had to have the more expensive option! We all had the roast beef Sunday lunch, when it can and it took over 45 minutes the meat was tuff as old boots and very dry! when we paid and was about to leave the staff jumped on the table to get it ready again before we had left the table! no one asked if we had enjoyed the meal, I think they already new how bad things were.
