The hotel is in a superb location, it overlooks the lake in a quiet village with easy access to Lucerne. The swimming pool is great and everything is spotlessly clean. The room we were given which overlooked the lake didn't resemble any of the photos we had seen. It needs total updating and the bathroom was circa 1970 with hideous tiles and the washbasins and surrounds were starting to crack. The towels were thin and the patio furniture on the balcony was cheap plastic. Although we enjoyed our stay there it was very poor value. We were very disappointed in the quality of our room. There was no air conditioning and the rooms got incredibly hot. We had to keep the window and balcony door open which meant we could smell smoke and tobacco from the balconies on either side and from the restaurant terrace below.

Room Tip: Don't book number 111

I was in this hotel 1 Night, room 116. I didn't know it still has hotels with small beds (80cm)... Shower and the bath generally very small! The fitness is very old and the room small.
Breakfast is ok but I've seen much better too.
Whirlpool and pool are nice, nice location and nice food (but expensive).
The parking is not guaranted, take care!
For 120 swiss francs for 1 night ok, but i would not go there one more time....

We stayed here for 4 nights as part of a Tryen Rail Holiday packag tour.
We wasnt disappointed!
Fantastic hotel located in the small quite lakeside town of Hergiswil.
The hotel was wonderful, our room was clean and big. The room, which we was lucky to get looked out over the lake and the views were amazing.
We had a couple of meals included in our package holiday and they were very good.
Enjoyed sitting by the lake in the evening, it was peaceful and relaxing.
Would love to stay here again one day!!

Room Tip: rooms at the back of the hotel look out over the lake. these will cost more, so i hear, than the on...

We went on Shearings Splendours of Switzerland tour in February 2012, hotel very comfortable and clean, excellent facilities - spa, pool, ice-rink etc. Staff very friendly and informative. We enjoyed the food which was really good value for price we paid and we had a varied choice. The menus and dishes in the main restaurant looked fantastic although obviously more expensive. The tour was similarly good value and we would recommend it to anyone!

Found the staff very unwelcoming. There was no heating control in the room, wich went from too hot to too cool. The balcony had cracks from the balcony door to the outside wall and a visible 1/8 inch drop in the height of the outside wall slabs. Toilet flush kept filling and flushing at the same time and was only rectified after I complained. Only saving grace was resonablly good food and good views if you had a room facing the lake. Wouldn't go there in a hurry again!

We stayed here September 2011 while on a coach tour in the area. Menu choice non existent! Room clean but who's idea of fun to install clear glass door on bathroom! You need to be good at whistling!
Good pool well maintained.
Room size varies but we had a good sized room.
Staff friendly with the exception of poolman who may be deaf?
Good location.
No inner door on lift! Not suitable for anyone with severe walking difficulties as steps from street
Overall fair but could do better.

Room Tip: If not satisfied ask for a change!

Have recently returned from a Treyn holiday which used this hotel. Facilities and rooms were ok but not 4 Star and the food definately need to try much harder. Like Shearings tours we were in a separate dining area, the food served was substandard, ie: cold spaghetti with tomato sauce, mangetout and cauliflower and not quite cooked battered turkey steak (all on the same cold plate), like others in the group I did not eat this, but no alternative was offered. Service was second rate and you did not feel welcomed, the hotel is in a residential area with very few cafes, restaurants and bars so choice outside the hotel was limited. The hotel is also situated on a busy road and with no airconditioning the rooms get quite hot - so you open the windows but then very noisy.
The tour itself was great but think twice before using this hotel.

Room Tip: Room facing the lake must be quieter
